In an action that's sure to rile up the "video games lead to violence" activists, a match of the popular first-person shooter Counter Strike at an internet cafe in China almost lead to a deadly attack. After a player had been discovered as a cheater, he was confronted by his opponents, and the argument escalated into an attack, which concluded with the cheater being stabbed in the head with a rusty knife. The attackers fled the scene and have not been found, as the cafe did not require IDs. An x-ray of the victim can be seen above, while a more graphic image of the surgery can be found in the source link below.

Thankfully, after 10 hours of surgery, the blade was removed, with the attack seemingly missing major arteries and parts of the brain affecting motor functions. The player is being kept at the hospital to be observed, as the rust from the knife could lead to complications or infection.

Many Internet cafes and arcades in China are run by the Mafia and are not very family friendly places to be.

There was an incident last year when a guy was chased down and stabbed in front of a surveillance camera for in-game cheating too.

Sometimes you wonder what type of people actually play this game.

Really shouldn't be playing a game like this if you cant control your emotions properly.

I was going to post this, but decided not to.

The amount of disrespect Counter Strike Source gets around here is bad enough, players getting left clicked in the head doesn't make it any better.

Everyone should know that this is not an ideal representation of an average CS player. Obviously there was more to it than "accusations of cheating" because anyone can look at your screen at a net cafe.

Yeah... Wow.. I thought this was a joke at first =/ Wow... Good thing I don't hack. And what as for what was said above "The chinese cafe's are generally run by the mafia" That is true...? Just wondering.

Reminded me of this video.

I read about it during school today. It's ridiculous what can happen to someone if they get caught cheating, it's a good message to send people if they decide to get hacks. I thought the last thing the article was said was a little cheap, but gave me a small smirk.

What? He probably wasn't even cheating, and even if he was the only person who deserves a rusty knife in the head here is the guy who stabbed him.

dude look at that pic again, look at that penetration...that is clearly a right click

also i agree with that video and such, it isn't that counter strike and other violent video games makes you a violent and disturbed individual, its that these people play these games because of the fact

I am not saying that it was a right thing to do, but its just unbelievable to what level people drop down to when someone cheats if they did.

To me the fact that he lived isn't surprising that much. I have seen a lot worse happen when I did my final senior project for high school in the ER Room at Emanuel Hospital.

What disturbes me is that people continue to go to places such as this even when they know the consequences....truley sad.

With the minimum pay standards and availability of internet lines in many places; Cafe's are a staple in Asia when it comes to gaming. It's the fun of a LAN party minus all the work of setting it up, and prices are quite cheap.

True, but at what price? Next we will hear about someone getting stabbed with a rusty spoon...

Well there's been the (two) posts now about the Korean couple that neglected their own daughter and she died while they were taking care of their own virtual baby.

And yes, I highly believe that's true about the mafia. It seems like something that should have been left in the past like 50 years ago, but the mafia even runs rampant in Italy still.

I guess the moral is if your ganna be dumb enough to hack - do it when no one can look over your shoulder...

Ouch, maybe this will stop people from hacking lol (doubt it)

They take things a little to far over there in Asia..
