try running it as admin.

if not,
contact EA staffs ASAP.

the ea download manger is known for many problems

I had this problem as well, the culprit was UAC, User Account Control.

If you have Windows 7/Vista PLEASE make sure that you either turn UAC off or run the installer as an administrator.

In this case, since it's a third party installer, close down EADM completely, navigate to where the executable file is, right click and "run as administrator" to ensure full read/write authority.

If this is not the case, please let us know.
As Mr. Pyro stated as above, EADM is known for errors.

Thank you for your time.

Okay sorry for asking but do you mind saying that again in more than one sentence? I can probably help you out but i am terrible when it comes to Grammar.

So you bought BfBC2 off the EA website and the EA Download Manager is giving an error message saying "EA Download Manager can not launch External Application: Invalid Path"?

Try this:

Try running EACoreServer.exe then starting the EADM quickly afterwards.

I kept getting the error "EA Download Manager tried to launch an external application but the path was invalid. Please try again, or reinstall EADM."

It is to do with Adobe Air. (Make sure to install the latest Adobe Air update from the Adobe site.)

For some reason Adobe Air (in Vista) doesn't associate itself to .air programs. Here's what you need to do:

- Find the .air file you need to install and Right click on it, Choose Open With > "Choose Default Program" (Click on Search and type in .air, once you get search results, scroll down and find the .air file and then click Open)
- Click Browse
- Paste this into the File Name: "C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobe AIRVersions1.0" - Press Enter
- You'll see "Adobe AIR Application Installer.exe", click on that and press "Open"
- Press OK

Now all of your .air files are associated to Adobe Air.

I have done evrything and nothing is working

Call EA? If you cant get anything we suggested to work, that is your last resort.

Go to the folder that you downloaded the game files to. Navigate down the folders until you find the bfbc2_dd folder. Inside there is a setup.exe program. Run it. This completely bypasses the download manager for installing! I need to check to see if you can burn it to disk to install it on other computer/reinstall it, but I did this to install it and it worked perfectly!

The default directory for downloaded files can be found by clicking settings in the EADM
from there, open the folder with your email address as part of the name. The bfbc2_dd folder should be in there.
