This is a great group and we should help to populate the group number because there might come a point where this will have a impact on the INS devs I like to call them "Lousy custodians"

[QUOTE]
We believe the leadership of the current development team have lost their way and this once award-winning mod is failing as a result. They are only a handful among many developers past and present and their present position is not based on ownership but rather on a custodial obligation to act in the best interests of the project and everyone who has contributed to it. However we do not feel that they adequately represent the gaming community nor the interests of the game. At this point we feel that the project would be best served by their stepping down or aside in favour of a new leadership team who can provide a fresh vision and also the enthusiasm and drive to see that vision realised. We do not want to see this great game die."

This is great unless it ends up in the wrong hands. A highly competitive group would destroy any chance for public play and vice versa. I support the idea to a degree, further, I would rather revolt AFTER 3.0 is released. That makes less work on all of us. They have a test server running beta 3 right now actually.

I fully agree with Yeti .

+1 Yeti lets see what 3.0 looks like.

problem is when is 3.0 going to come out? and if it comes out will the game still have people playing it, i am just worried their initivaties are to slow to suooprt the feedback of the community, and currently i am not very sure this game will stil exist in a year, fingers crossed :D

I think people will continue to play this game even if there are no updates. This game will only die if we let it. Show your support for the game by playing it and keeping our severs full.

Agreed.
INS is a free mod. The devs aren't getting paid for it. They have RL stuff to do first. I would rather them put all their focus into 3.0 rather than smaller random updates (not that those aren't good or needed) that only fix 2 or 3 things.

I say wait until the anticipated release of 3.0. If, a reasonable amount of time passes after this date with no product, then the next best option is to take the mod into our own hands and continue the project ourselves.

Hi all,

I see you have already been discussing the group!

I have not heard that there was a server up - have you got any details on it? Im just wondering if they have a server why they havent made any advertisements/screenshots/videos?

Out of interest who is your main server admin?

Please visit this link: http://www.petitiononline.com/insdev/petition.html

This is Jeremy's petition of the ins mod dev team. He is asking for endless to step down and for the remainder of the development team to integrate with his current team of 5 developers to continue production of the mod. I just signed as the 90th. With nearly 300 members in the steam group and less than 100 signatures, we need to act on this petition as it comes from Jeremy himself. He has also proposed that if insurgency is not handed over to him, he will take his current team and make an insurgency spin-off on orange box, and has all ready started with the ins beta1.0 code. However, having access to the current version would speed up the process, not to mention the fact that ins orange would be right around the corner.

Yeah, it was rumored by endless, I'll dig it up. He said there was a test server up last month running orange. He said it doesn't look like much so there aren't any videos. I'll post as soon as I can find the quote. Also, we have a hierarchy of administrators, but Caffeine and Gen-ig pretty much run the show here.

Jason's post was the first I had heard of this, it makes sense if the mod leaders aren't doing their job or getting tired with the work that they should step aside, but they released an update not too long ago, like Yeti posted, they seem to be working on v.3 and they've deleted all the anti-leader posts from the ins-forums so clearly they're at least taking an active role here.

I'd be worried that this whole thing got hyped up on a few people promising the benefits of "opening" the mod without really considering the implications of reasons for any delays and the potentional issues that unfocused public contributions would have.

Dear community:

During the last few months I have found myself with less and less time to commit to this wonderful project. I am afraid that my professional obligations prevent me from giving INS all the energy that this project would require.

I have therefore stepped down of the position of Project Lead and have appointed two Senior Members, the current Project Manager and the current Lead Programmer to lead a transition period that would result in a reorganization of the project and the election of a new board of lead developers.

I am sure that with their expertise the project will evolve and Beta 3 development will continue at a higher pace than in the last few months. I would remain active as a senior advisor to the team to offer them my help if and when they need it.

It's been a fantastic time and I will keep great memories of this project and its community. I am sure we'll meet again in future projects or developments.

Thank you all.

- Spielmann.

Yes, and let me make myself clear. I support Jeremy's intentions of integrating his team with the current team to continue the project. However, I do not support opening the mod for the greater community to do with it what they wish.

IF they current team is getting brunt out, why not get Jeremy's team to step in and work on it for a bit, then of they wish, let the other dev team work on it for a bit.

i must say. its something that you might be in but not really participate in since it could possibly cause more of problem than prove to be a solutio. Its my opinion though.
