Anyone else here who would like to see this gun "toned" down for the purposes of game balance?

Personally I feel they should reduce the accuracy of the gun. As it stands now, I feel it is completely overpowered relative to the rest of the weapons in the game, and allows medics to "lonewolf" because of its effectiveness. Medic is by definition a supporting class, but the M60 can put them at the front lines.

Thoughts and opinions welcome.

Well.... I think its oke:) I'm beter with the M16A1 sometimes. And with the assault class you also have "tube tube" as they call it:P With Medic you only have M60 and a pistol:)

I don't think it should be toned down. I think the other guns should be given more power, but it would be a lot more work doing it that way. The actual power of the M60 seems more realistic than all the other guns.

I have used the M60 for a little bit. And lol it needs a nerf. You can literally snipe with it, and have almost perfect accuracy even when spraying and praying. They also think they're rambo - not reviving or using medkits for their teammates, and only using the medkits on themselves.

Anyone can be good with the M60. Anyone.

Anyone can be better than usual with the M60. Anyone.

fixed, it's not as if just using an M60 makes you good, you still have to aim, but you'll play better with it than without. Other rifles are ridiculously underpowered. I would bet that you'll see a patch in coming months that nerfs the 60 and bumps a few assault rifles; might even tweak the 40mm a bit (increase the arming range a couple meters) and oh, marksman headshots with the Neostad, you might see something done about that....

Even in the first BC I felt like there were only two fundamental differences between assault and medic classes in terms of killing power. 1) medics had more ammunition per magazine (drum, case, whatever), and 2) assault gets a 40mm. The accuracy and spread of a rifle vs. a LMG feels negligible (for me) so I usually prefer a LMG for the ammunition load. Just haven't felt a need for a spec other than the red dot scope and that makes aiming just as easy with an LMG.

The medics really should be supporting other players by reviving them and throwing out health kits but that doesn't happen cause everybody just loves to go Rambo with the m60. You don't even have to nerf it a lot if u make the assault rifles better.

I was playing some last night and was on a team with a guy who was a "medic" with the M60. (I will explain the quotes) He was just being a rambo the whole match usually the top guy on the side with K/D of 20+ and under 5 about everytime. NOT ONCE did he throw a med pack or revive someone. I know this because I was on his squad and was the one healing and reviving everyone. There were multiple times were I would die right next to him only to watch him continue to keep shooting his "I'M SO GOOD" weapon instead of reviving me. It made me sad and angry until what happened next. After every round he would talk smack to the other team about how he was so good and they sucked. :O

The gun needs to be and hopefully will be toned down. It causes people to play a class NOT the way it was ment to be played.

i am pretty sure i read a post from bazz on the ea forums, that this gun and the m1911 are going to "tweaked" in the next patch coming out.

Well.. where is the medic supposed to support the fight ?

the front line >.>

The M60 IMO needs to stay just the way it is.. its a 7.62mm Lmg with 100 bullets.. what war would be complete with out one ? :P

if a support class can out-perform an assault class, I say let them take the front and you assault boys can just toss us ammo. Have to stop thinking about it in terms of how the class is meant to be played and start thinking in terms of which role it best fits and, in the case of the unpatched M60 that role would be killing the enemy which, I might add, is ALSO full of medics using the M60. It still comes down to who's faster on the trigger and, in the end, who still has tickets remaining. Whichever way works best to reduce your enemy's tickets to zero is the way the game is "meant" to be played.

Everyone has made valid points but ultimately the m60 is just a really good gun. Now, in comparison to other guns, it can be considered "op'd" but to be honest, damage in this game isn't dealt the way it should be in real combat. It takes many shots in BC2 to kill someone with a headshot with MANY weapons and that's just not realistic. With the mentality you people have for the m60, I also suggest they tone down Gustav, 40mm, and the grenade launcher. THOSE are conclusively cheap, op'd weapons. I cannot recall the amount of times I've been noobtube'd by the gustav. If you think it's unrealistic for the m60 to deal damage the way it does, then you should think it's unrealistic for an engineer to shoot missiles at individual people... it's an Anti-Vehicle weapon. You think a m60 can snipe? Take a look at the gustav.

the damage shouldnt be tone down but the accuracy should be. The gustav needs a nerf as well. Either to its speed out of the tube or its accuracy or the fact that like the 40MM grenades they should have an arming timer on them and should have to travel a certain distance before exploding.

If you want real combat... join the army.. I heard theres a lil war goin no in some sandy country.
