Story: Wall Street for the new Millennium
Review: I haven't seen Wall Street, but it's pretty easy to tell where this film got its inspiration from. In fact during one of the scenes of the film they show several characters crowded around a TV screen watching Wall Street and quoting it word for word...now that's what I call subtle. The films is about a College drop out who lands a job at a brokerage firm, but is unaware that the firm is engaged in criminal activity. Soon he does find out and is left with a moral choice of how to proceed. Not the greatest film out there, but it is one that will keep your attention for its two hour running time.

Story: Idiot antagonizes a malevolent force.
Review: When I reviewed this when it came out, I gave it a 9 out of 10. I gave it that score because I enjoyed the way the film managed to ratchet up the tension to the point where event the most mundane scare got the audience to scream. It was a fun experience in the theater. Now six months on from originally seeing it, I have to say that a 9 is a little to high of a rating. While the film was impressive for its budget, the acting was noticeably terrible and some of the scenes were done haphazardly. Still this is an effective horror film and one that I still recommend seeing.

Review: The inane and insane David v. Goliath like story about a small fast food joint fighting a massive fast food franchise that moved in across the street. The film is based off of one of the better skits from a kids sketch show called All That. Now this one is hard to review, due to a little thing called nostalgia. I saw this when I was 10 and as such it falls into to the category of "I can't review this too harshly, because I might kill my childhood in the process."...but I'll give it the rating that I feel comfortable with.

Review: As I've previously stated I have not seen any other Star Trek film other than this one...and because of that I can't make any comparisons to the previous films...or anything in the Star Trek cannon, I haven't watched any Star Trek. Anyway this film plots the rise of James T. Kirk from a rebellious youth to a hero that William Shatner would be proud of. One the more entertaining films to come out last summer and the best Star Trek film I've seen...then again it's also the worst one I've seen.

Review: When an international terrorist, played by Cage, is turned into a vegetable after an arrest attempt, an FBI agent, played by Travolta, goes under a radical surgery to remove the terrorists face and place it on him. One problem, the terrorist comes out of his coma and puts on Travolta's face. If that sounds like a really stupid idea for a plot, then you'd be right. Fortunately the film manages over come the plot and make a really fun action film. Both Cage and Travolta do excellent jobs in their roles.

Review: In this strange epic, Heston and a group of scientist crash land on an alien planet only to find that humans exist, but are feral...and apes exist also, but they are intelligent. The films plot is pretty cleaver and very intelligent, most of which is owed to its source material. This is an unmitigated classic and must be seen.

Story: Several groups of Assassins, The FBI and a group of bounty hunters all go after a washed up magician.
Review: I really had high hopes for this one. I liked Carnahan's other film NARC and this one seemed to be my brand of over the top action...but I was wrong. The story was jumbled all to hell, which normally wouldn't matter, but the way the plot unraveled at the end leaves a sour taste in the mouth. While it's not a complete disaster, the film is no where near what it could have been.

Review: A well done movie about the making of a now lost film called The Life of General Villa, which was shot in 1914. The film follows an American filmmaker who is chosen to shoot a film about Pancho Villa during the height of the Mexican Revolution. It's an interesting take on what is basically a footnote in history.

You should check it out. The Sweet Hereafter is probably Atom Egoyan's best film, and Ian Holm's performance is superb. How about reviewing 25th Hour? I'd like to get your take on that particular Spike Lee joint.

Review: This one is the first flop of McTiernan career and for good reason. While the film was set up to be a greats parody of action films, it turns sour by some really stupid plot choices. I know a lot of people grew up with this movie and I can understand why it's popular with some people. The film is entertaining, but simply not that good.

Story: A man has 25 hours before he is sent to prison for the next seven years.
Review: I don't like Spike Lee, the man is a self indulgent a** who believes the world revolves around him. Despite that, he has made a few good movies, the 25th Hour being one of them. The tale is an introspective one as our protagonist gets prepared for the life on the inside and takes stock of his life. It's a well presented film and a well acted one too. Norton, as usual, does a great job in his role.

Review: The plot is both very stupid and very crazy, George Carlin travels back in to via phone booth to pick up two stoners and to take them back in history so that they may learn about history so that they can pass a History class. Why is George Carlin doing this? Well the two stoners will go on to form a band, whose music will lead to a Utopian society...........>.<
The films psychotic plot is all part of the fun though. It's an entertaining comedic romp, that should be watched at least once.

Title: F for Fake

Story: A film about trickery, misdirection and fakes.
Review: This is Welles' last major film and is an amazing send off for this great filmmaker. The film is a wild free form documentary about a famous art forger named Elmyr de Hory and his equally dubious biographer Clifford Irving. Here is the thing though, that's not what the film is actually about, the initial subject matter is just a spring board that Welles uses to launch into the basic nature of ownership, authenticity and the value of art. The film was ahead of its time when it came out and really need to be experienced by a wider audience. This is truly Welles' unsung masterpiece.
