Well, I've been looking at some of the PSC's statistics for recent recruits accepted in to eGO. I saw something that disappointed me.

chart

The above is a list of the recruits accepted into what division since the PSC started monitoring that through their new system (not 100% sure when that was, so I can't give you a specific amount of time). But point is, there have been many more people joining the DoD:S and CS:S divisions! This is great, but TF2 Division is falling behind fast!

The specific numbers are

DoD:S: 270 (recruits)
CS:S: 261
TF2: 123 (hah, 1 2 3 lol :P)

basically I'm saying, lets step up the recruiting in our servers! Everyone can recruit! You don't need to be a 'recruiter' or a PSC member! So get out there! Admins, this means every once in a while (don't spam them!) send out an allchat message saying 'Hey, like this server? Then type @eGO into team chat if you are interested in joining eGO/Edgegamers Organization!' And for every pub that does that, a message appears in admin chat saying 'eGO' and you organize yourselves, and get one admin to open a PChat with each one that does that!

Today when I get home I will be trying to recruit as many people on Valvemaps as possible! (and start it up/fill it if it needs that) Feel free to join me in whatever Ventrilo room I am in at the time! I will start around 3:15 Pacific Daylight Time (so 4:15 MDT, 5:15 CDT, 6:15 EDT)! I'd like to see as many of you there as possible, and if we get enough people in that room, we might spread ourselves out having a few people on multiple server! Lets get the ball rolling!

Along those lines, servers have been dead by like 1-2 AM Central (with maybe 1 or 2 holding on for a bit longer) this week. So sad. :(

I don't mean to knock the other divisions in saying this but a more optimistic view point - you could look at it as if we're going for quality rather than quantity. With the engie update approaching, let's see if we can pick up some new, valuable members during that time.

:D sure, i'll start edoing this more often. i usually dont do it because i think "well, there's a recruiter online and i dont want to steal they're glory" so i usually dont...

however i wont be able to play as much ATM as my computer is infected and that keeps interfering with VAC :/ so once i get back on i'll start!

I think we can manage to beat those DoD people. Even with Blindy, we will win!

Quality over quantity like TP said. (He stole my idea)

Well Sure, Quality over Quantity is always preferred, but that doesn't change the fact that it would be a bad thing for us to work a bit harder on recruiting members into our clan! I'm going to jump on Valvemaps in a minute or two and hopefully bag a few new recruits for our clan and our division!

Oh, and as you will hear PSC Members (there are no 'recruiters' anymore) repeatedly say, Recruiting is not our job specifically! It is everyone's job!

Yeah, I agree with TP and them. The other divisions may have recruited more members, but how many of those stay active? Of course, the more recruited members you have the percentage of active members you have should be higher (hopefully).

Lets try to recruit more, but lets also try to keep more. If you have not seen one of your eGO friends on in a while, post on their profile or send them a quick PM. A little effort can go a long way.

Exactly. But that doesn't mean you have to all-chat "join eGO" messages every 5 minutes. I've gotten more people interested in us by using teamwork and having fun. Seriously. Buddy-up with a fellow member or two and chat it up on the mic (you do have one right?). Crack some jokes and laugh about how you just got pwnd by whatever killed you. And you'll find pubs saying "you guys sound like fun, tell me more"

like kunai said TP said.

Yeah, what xo said Kunai said TP said.

Getting more server traffic would help. I stopped playing TF2 about a year ago to tend to schoolwork, but now that I'm all but graduated, I'm starting up again. When I left 2Fort IR was a new and wildly popular server that rivalled the great Dustbowl server, and our payload server ran goldrush and badwater, and was full during all peak times and during some off-peak times as well.

Now it's honestly kind of sad...2Fort IR is half full/full most of the time, but the rest of the servers are touch and go. Egypt fills up fast if you seed for a bit, but it gets pretty old if that's all you play. 2Fort IR is glorified team deathmatch, rarely do teams try to cap, and with IR I can't blame them - it's pretty difficult if both teams are competent. Again, that winds up getting old fast. And, though I'm gonna probably upset some folks with this, I refuse to play black mesa because it's just a rat's maze and not a very fun map at all. The pacing is poor and it represents a large learning curve - great fun for people who already know and enjoy it, but that server isn't going to bring a lot of new players into the community. Turbine does alright enough for now, never was a great fan of it, but if it brings new people to the servers, so be it.

Adding some variety back into the servers and getting people to actively seed and fill servers would hopefully attract new players in the coming summer months - peak gaming season.

Then comes the retention - advertising the community, the organization, and the eGO standards that help make people want to come to our servers and not just pub around. Running ads for the site on the servers more heavily would help. You don't want to interfere with the game, but there's no reason the eGO logos in the servers can't have our web site on it, or a few words like "Join the community!" or somesuch. G's and O's can even do a little spamvertising now and again - people listen to admins. Promote the community with a quick "@ If you enjoy our servers, come check out the rest of our community at www.edgegamers.org!"

So, who's with me!?
