Best RAM manufacturer?

Corsair makes average ram that banks on their history of good products. Now Corsair is nothing special for the price you pay. G-skill is probably the best price/performance right now.

ABSOLUTE best is:

Corsair Dominator GTX. Notice how this is $325 for a 2GB kit
really only useful for sub zero overclocking


followed closely by:
G-skill Pi almost as good, at 1/2 the price
 
What about other G-Skill RAMs?

I'm not looking for that high-tech really, but just some good gaming ram. Also, why are they so big? o.O

if you are not looking for something high tech, corsair makes the most reliable and stable memory I have come across during my ten years in computer building.

Corsair by far.

Used them, then it would go Kingston, then G-Skill...

Corsair RAM has never failed me in DDR, DDR2, or DDR3 setups. Single, Dual or Tri Channel Setups.

Hence the RAM used in my sig.
 
Over steam we discussed this further, and my suggestions would be

RAM:
Mushkin blackline

PSU:
Antec Truepower new 750w
or
XFX 650w (really ugly IMO, but it is a very good unit.) It's also modular

Motherboard:
The one you already showed me is perfectly fine, but if you want to save a few $, this is a good option aswell:
Foxconn Flaming blade

Here is a layout of brands I reccomend, from my experience from actual usage.

-- Good Brands(Would be first choice.)

-- Okay brands(if forced to resort)

-- No thanks brands(Wouldent resort to)

I have never had any issues with kingston or mushkin. Mix and matching speeds of memory, brands of memory and have had a GREAT lifespan!

The brands Ocz, crucial and corsair have seem to be very tempermental. Not as long of a lifespan as ive seen with kingston and mushkin. They dont seem to want to work with other brands of memory some times.

The no thanks brands comes from getting a computer to fix, seeing it in there and that being the problem.

Also, I forgot to mention pny, I dont know where they fit in, on this list. They make decent memory. No compatability issues, but basic specs and design on everything. And a little bit over priced most of the time.

Im sorry you didnt agree with what I had stated. But its my opinion, based on my expirence.
 
darkage i would personally like to know what brand of memory ur currently using right now. ive been using g.skill for bout 4 years (if that) & they have yet to fail me. im currently using 4x1gb sticks of g.skill memory. havent had a single issue w/ them yet. for great quality ram @ a great price, i would highly suggest looking in that direction.
 
Once again, Talking over steam (for all you nosy people, he just asked for more suggestions with similarly tight timings):

Kingston HyperX $207.99
Mushkin Ridgeback $229.99
Corsair XMS3 $259.99
Corsair Dominator GT $306.99
Regular Dominator $284.99

Now that i saw that they made those HyperX they are looking pretty good.

I would say in this order:
Mushkin
HyperX (really good value)
Dominator (reg)
Dominator GT
XMS3 (overpriced)
 
Im using a set of OCZ in my gaming rig ( see sig ) and these guys overclock like crazy, stable to 1750 using 9 9 9 24. been using them for a little over a year now and were under $100 at the time. These are the plain black ones that say intel core i7 on them and rated for 1333 @ 7 7 7 20.

Now the set of OCZ being used in my work rig 4GB OCZ Gold 1600, these guys are rated for 1600 @ 8 8 8 24 and i cannot get them 100 % stable to 1750 using 9 9 9 24 .

Best bet may be to find someone using a similar or the same board as you and find out what RAM they found best compatible.

I would also recommend Mushkin. I have done multiple builds using mushkin sticks every time, and I have never had a problem.
