Mortall kombattt

Im not so sure bout the movie. Parts of that fight scene were a lil gimmicke, so ill wait til theres more info. Sounds like the movie might be a possible rated R film, which is what it should have been in the first freaking place due to all, if not most of the games being rated M. Also not sure that im gonna like Mortal Kombat, esp since it ported from the old school Sega/SNES days. I tried it on PS2 & found it to be rather complicated, so I highly doubt that Ill get the game for PS3.

The video was actually an independent project used to pitch the idea of a new film. It hasn't been bought yet, as far as I know... but it should be.

Also, there's another thread on this somewhere.

Oh it's not dead. I still like MK very much - and don't even dare mention the two MK-movies. They were craptastic (That's about as nice a description I can give on these forums :P) and by the look of that minimovie I wouldn't hesitate to see a full-blown movie of that.
I might just pay double the regular price of a movieticket just to watch it.

Do not want any more mortal kombat movies, AHHH. Just because prince of persia can make a movie off a game dosen't mean you can try to do it also mortal kombat, you tried..twice.. and you failed.

im not nostalgic about any fighting movie since that monstrosity called Dragonball evolution was released

MK will never die :P
Who knows, a MK movie with good production value could be good.

Highly doubtful. Just the basic set up reeks of B-movie. It would take a freaking brilliant writer to be able to turn a plot about a fighting tournament into something good.

Actually let's do a comparison for and against the likelihood of an MK movie to be made:

For:

1. The film would be pretty cheap to make, a budget of 30 million would be enough for the production.

2. The internet buzz generated by the 7 min promo was quite substantial.

3. The first MK film made a boat load of cash.

4. The fact that someone was willing to make a 7 min reworking of MK shows that there is someone who actually wants to adapt the franchise.

Against:

1. Mortal Kombat hasn't been relevant for over a decade and the name inspires little more than nostalgia in the gaming industry today.

2. The Mortal Kombat franchise was not enough to save Midway Games from financial collapse. In fact Midway did try to use Mortal Kombat to save themselves and it simply didn't generate enough capital to save them.

3. Warner Bros. just picked up the rights to the series and are currently funding MK 9. It is doubtful that they would dump more cash into a franchise that has yet to prove itself.

4. The movie industry has learned that internet buzz does not mean anything when it comes to ticket sales. Snakes on a Plane, which had massive buzz online, barely made back it's production budget domestically.

Conclusion:

Frankly it is pretty unlikely that a Mortal Kombat movie is in development. If the new MK game performs well and I mean very well, then there is a chance that a movie will be made. The franchise has simply been out of the public eye for far to long for a movie to come out anytime soon.

ya i never heard of any mk show before, so im glad that you said that. i gotta agree w/ beast on this one because like he said, another mk movie hasnt been made in over a decade & the 1st 2 movies were such a joke.

Back in February. It appears more to be behind the scenes struggle over rights to the franchise. The news seems to coincide with Midway's liquidation.

That's exactly what I was thinking... I wonder though does this mean they could possibly be coming back? I mean fi they make enough money they could branch with another company and make a comeback.
