Anyone know how to or know software for converting demos to a more common video type? Mainly, something usable outside of a Valve game? =P

demos arent videos there just instruction sets for the game to replay something.

but there is a built in video recorder in source game just google around for source recorder and tf2

Source recorder is a pain in the ass.
Just use Fraps instead.

I wondered about that... SSB: Brawl is the same way with replays.

Thanks for the help guys!

So, running into some problems.

Using SourceRecorder, as I don't have the cash for the not-crappy-trial version of Fraps.

When starting the movie, I choose no compression. It records, then can't play. Happened a few times. When starting the movie, and using compression, I get weird colors.

Suggestions? Clarifications?

Well, for recording videos i use the Xfire's recording tool, i don't know the differences between Fraps and Xfire but i know that Xfire is free and it auto-upload your videos to the Xfire's media page so you don't have to convert or compress(it converts it self), and most of the times i works perfect but sometimes i doesn't record the audio, but that can be easily fixed.

The built in converter sucks as well i have tried using it dozens of times to no avail.

Just use Xfires recording tool.
