A new router...seriously now.

Hey guys! My dad just told me we're probably getting a new router in about 6-8 months, and told me I could help look for one. Details below.

Budget: $70-80, but might go higher depending
Brand: My dad prefers Linksys, but he'll probably try something else, if it arises.
Type: It needs to have Wireless-N technology (I think that's what it's called)

Other Notes: I am not looking to buy one from another member, but one off the internet (Like newegg.com, etc.) so please don't offer one.

We recently bought the Linksys E2000 and never had a problem. Easy to set up and the wireless works extremely well.

Yep I also have that router. Had it for about 2 years now and it's been great. Though there was a thunder storm recently and it might of messed it up cus I get bad lag spikes every now an then but it served me well. And btw, Wireless N routers are compatible with Wireless G network cards.

We bought the e2000, but returned it because we wanted to Simultaneous Dual Band that the Linksys e3000 supported (I ended up returning the e3000 because the next weekend, it was 30$ off at Bestbuy where I bought it). I set up both with relatively ease, I just had to call Verizon to re-establish the line to my house. For some reason, I had local connection to the router but no internet access, and it happened setting up both routers. Anyhow, my dad is enjoying his Wireless-N, Streaming HD to our PS3 via the 5ghz channel, and I love having my Gigabyte Ethernet port running so well.

In 6 to 8 months, I am sure routers will come down in price a lot...ESPECIALLY ON BLACK FRIDAY

Yes, well, at least my mom' new laptop does, which isn't set up yet, but will be soon. And my laptop does. Does this e2000 have wthernet ports?

wthernet? You mean Ethernet LAN ports to hardwire to? Yes, they are 10/100/1000Mbps ports. So if you have a gigabyte Ethernet card, you can enjoy higher bandwidth

I wanna try this but im afraid Ill do something wrong and cause my router to crap out or something.

Yea, i use Cisco and have an E3000 as well. Good router.
