M. Night Shyamalan: The Formula.

[Sexy Beast]

M. Night Shyamalan is a director whose films inexplicably get worse as time goes on. At first it seems difficult to comprehend how a person can make a great film like the Sixth Sense and then come out with something like The Happening. So I've decided to see if there was a magical number which might help up predict how bad his next film will be. This number is .85:

Take one of his films and assign it a numerical value in quality and then multiply that value by .85 to get the quality of his next film.

Here is the list*:

The Sixth Sense: 9
Unbreakable: 7.7
Signs: 6.5
The Village: 5.5
Lady in the Water: 4.7
The Happening: 4.0

Those are his films so far. If he were continue this trend then The Last Airbender will be a 3.4, which is damn terrible. So I guess the point of this thread to warn people to stay away from his movies.


*The numbers are rounded to the nearest tenth and pretty much represent how I feel about each film.

Ah, see? That's what he wants you to think. You're forgetting about the twist at the end of all his movies. So the big twist for this will be that the Avatar: airbender movie will be the best rated movie of his ever.

The Village = One of the scariest movies I've ever watched. Seriously.

Actually, a typical twist for the Last Airbender would be that Aeng evetually found out that the Fire Nation are aliens that already took over the world and he is nothing more than a figment of someone's imagination. Oh, and Katara is a cow. What a twist.

It's only a critical flop so far...but judging that they opened up against Twilight, it isn't going to make any money. Seriously they had to have been all kinds of stupid to open against a Twilight film.
