Intelligent Weapon Discussion #3: Soldier's Primary

Which weapon do you prefer to use in the Soldier's Primary Slot?

I'll admit I haven't read everything or actually almost nothing at all but these threads of "which weapon is better" is always situational. That's the point of having a choice in weapons - depends on what map you're playing, who's on your team, who's on the other team, and most importantly your own personal preference (which varies between everyone). There's no one best weapon for everyone.

Hypothetical situations don't win debates.
 
Regular rocket if you don't know timing of the rockets all that well nor how to air juggle. Also if you like splash damaging multiple opponents. DH if you are godly and can repeatedly air juggle your opponent without him touching the ground =P

I agree with you 100% TP; but that's not what these threads are supposed to be about. Note the poll question is which weapon you prefer, And the thread name isn't 'which is better', it's 'intelligent discussion'. I definitely get what you're saying, but in my mind, the point of these threads is to TALK about the weapons, what they're suited for, and potential situations for their use.


The idea is to talk about some theory behind it, so that people make more informed choices, instead of arbitrary ones. I know that since starting to post these threads, I've changed my heavy melee weapon from the fists to the gloves, and I've changed my sniper weapon from jarate to SMG, simply because I had made a choice long ago and never really went back to consider them. What I love about these threads is the long, wall of text responses some members give; I'm not afraid of them, (quite obviously) and I read them through and learn. That's the impetus behind these threads, not to determine what is the best.

The Direct Hit is an excellent Heavy Buster. Plus I am pretty good at hitting targets so I tend to use it sometimes. But when things start to heat up drastically I usually switch over to the normal rocket launcher to thin the enemies out.
