But OSX is really shiny, and thier laptops have some of the best build quality i've ever seen.

I could never bring myself to buy one of their desktops, I love building my own too much

So yeahh, like I was saying. I only have 40ish bucks to spare, so what's the bestest deal I can get with 40 bucks. (Please bear Mail-In rebate in mind)
 
So uh, before I go buy a new GFX card, is there anywhere to check to see if my 9800 is broken for sure?

It's worth a try. You should check craigslist. I buy almost everything there nowadays. I bought a 20" monitor for 50 bucks, a 240 video card, headsets, you name it I bought it there. Though your parents may be skeptical about meeting a stranger to buy tech parts from him but it's worth a try!
 
try your 9800 in annother PC

only real way to test it.

OR if you have a motherboard with intergrated graphics you can try running it with that. If it works fine on the IGP, then the 9800 is most likely dead. If not, then we have to figure out which component is the problem.

Running mobo graphic cards? IGP? What are you saying?

Edit:If someone had teamviewer and lotsa patience, it'd be great if you would work with me to do this stuff.

just go for a other 9800gtx there cheap and still perform very well on new games.
