Tips, Tricks and Strategies

Cant dont own Sc2 like i have said before it is on a guest pass nothing is recorded if i could i would
It is recorded though.. my friend is playing on a guest account and is in a league with a w/l ratio recorded. If it got erased after you used all 7 hours you could tell us what division you were in before it got erased.

Ran out of Hours by playing singleplayer( the only reason i wanted Sc2) Tested some Multiplayer with my Brother but mid game ran out of time and could not finish because 7 hour mark hit.

So you've played 1/2 games of multiplayer

yes i only played half not a full plus i dont play 1v1 i only do 2v2 and up 1v1 is dull and boring for me.

haven't played and sc2 but sc1 was all about your build order and micro.

so just spend some time figuring out some good build orders

For fellow Protoss players, scout early with your probe and get fast gas for the Charge ability for your Zealots. While your waiting for it to upgrade you can also get Weapons 1, but what you should be doing while they are upgrading is rushing zealots and possible stalker as soon as possible.

Just out of curiosity. Are you trollin bro?
No Dude i never troll i post when i want to which is on rare occasions because i play DoD:S a lot.
As in i have been in eGO for about 10 months and just about hit 1,000 hours in dod which broken down is 100 hours each month.

My toss strat/BO for the first 5 minutes:

9 pylon
chrono two probes
11 or 12 gate
pylon + gas
fast cybernetics core + and chrono two zealots
next gate
next gas
chrono research warpgates
robo - observer is first thing out
warpgates - stalkers/sentries

Start looking to expand

observer takes a look around...

I have about 2 zealots guarding holding the ramp for early pool and every unit thereafter is a stalker until I get my obs up, then it's scout to react. Reaper rush fails to my first stalker out, zerg rush fails to 2 zealots guarding ramp, marines/marauders gets colossus and immortals. I avoid void rays, mostly proxy pylon and harass, but I'm not very good and my micro is bad. I've lost because I forgot to Hold Position with zealots, because I blocked a gang of three immortals with my own stalkers, etc., etc....

If you're not harassing with something you're doing it wrong. Warp prisms are expensive but load up two immos and send them behind their base. They're tough and will last. I'm starting to see a sneaky protoss harass with cloaked dark templars, make sure you block your ramp or keep an obs near your base (cannon not a bad idea, very powerful this time around)!

well as i have noticed alot with this edition of SC is that in order to make the high end units you are forced to expand, instead of forcing myself to expand i make low end units such as marines reapers, zealots stalkers, hydras. atleast lvl 2 upgrades i can spit out so many small faster then they can expand. Most of the time a player is trying to go for the "big guns", i hit him early sure he may have defense or some military but my units are cheaper to make then his big stuff and also takes longer eventually ill win.

This is a bad strategy, you definently need to grab your expand sometime, preferably a
Sooner rather then later.

Imo i think its a 50/50 shot because you never know what there next move is. Go with what you think is good and test it out. Everyone always has different tactic.

If the match is going to last longer than 15 minutes, you need to expand. You'll simply run out of resources if you don't, even if you only expand for the extra gas it's worthwhile

Also how do you know if its 50/50 if you've never even played an entire match?

Sc2 is Sc1 which i have played before the only differences is some units. The game play is very similar to it.

The resources at your start location can build up to about 7 battlecruisers with upgrades. There you can push up with those and build up to as many locations as you can (Depends on the map) with a good force to drive off units who try to blow up the under construction command center. Plus it depends if they have defenses because you could just take them out even without base expansions with those start up forces if they have no defense.

This is so wrong, you also need to factor in how fast your getting minerals.

as a starcraft fan / terrible player and a forum moderator, I'm going to ask that we keep this thread going towards helping people out, not picking apart each other :)

my Protoss build:

probes until 9/10
pylon
probe 10/10
gateway 10/18
chrono 2 probes 12/18
gateway 12/18
gas put 2 probe in 12/18
chrono 2 prove 14/18
gateway 14/18
pylon 14/26
chrono 2 probe 16/28
core 16/18
warp gate tech 16/18
chrono 2 probe 18/28
gateway 18/28

Make sure your chrono warp gate alot and have fun summoning stalkers!

I see your point, but here we are scrutinizing a player who has no experience and offering bad tips. That scrutiny is, in effect, helping people out. I don't see why we can't scrutinize a player and judge their credentials after offering tips. If I wanted to learn how to play tennis I would make sure my instructor had at least some experience and I would ask him what that experience was. Also, if he gave me bad advice I would expect other instructors to correct that advice and teach me a more appropriate way to do something.

I feel like that's what we're trying to do here. I don't want to see people set back in their skill progression because they are trying to adopt strategies that an overwhelming majority of people have found to be ineffective or unnecessary. So, An, where should we draw the line? Can we analyze other players' tips without analyzing their credentials? Would that be good enough?

Does anyone have some links to good build orders or strats? I'm new to SC2 and want to figure some things out xD
