I've been thinking about updating my computer lately and I haven't really kept up with any of the new comp gear that's came out, was wondering if anyone had any input on what I should look for as a new CPU, Mobo, GFX Card, Memory and PS? Trying to spend around 300-600. And I plan on using my good ole' Windows XP Home Edition 32-bit, unless someone wants to send me a DL for W7 for free :D

Edit: Currently have 9800GT as video card btw.

770 AMD platform, Propus, 5770 GPU, 4gb ddr3 ram, S12II/OP/DA psu. Any are fine. Get Windows 7. XP is old and outdated. Tsk tsk. I am disappoint.

Oh wait, scratch that 5770, buy an MSI 980a motherboard, and pick up a second 9800GT and run them in SLI.

Do what Phobus said. I like windows XP personally, I don't have much experience with Win 7, and I'm too lazy to buy it and take the time to learn a new OS. So stick with Win XP if you don't have the money right now.

That is if you understand what I said. :P
Sometimes I just go off in my l33t speak and only certain people have a clue about what I'm saying. Lol

Would u mind posting some pictures of a list or something? o.o

This is what I came out with so far while searching Newegg:

Edit: Belive I have found everything so far except what video card to go with, thinking of a 5770 more than likely, have any suggestions or critique on whether all this should work?

Never go SLI with 2 Old cards they are slower then a new one. (dont believe me check benchmarks for toms hardware.)

personally i am a intel/Nvidia guy

so i would check around on newegg and see what you can get. its tough to build i gaming comp from 300-600 (i would save up at least 1000$) otherwise in 6months to a year your PC will be old and you will have to upgrade again

No duh.
But for another ~$90, he'd have pretty good performance. Around a 5770 for ~$60 less.

Yes i see that. His build will be fine.

P.S. "No Duh" was out of line. I am only giving my 2 cents worth so watch your mouth.

If his build was fine, then why'd you say anything? o.O

P.S. "Watch your mouth" is out of line. I was only replying, no need to get lippy.

Because i said " I would rather save up around 1000$ and build" but this build is fine for him.

P.s. When you tell me first No duh I you step out of line. If there was no sense of insubordination then i would not have to get "lippy"

Saving up $1000 would be better, but maybe he doesn't want to wait that long. Plus, he wouldn't have to upgrade the whole thing, just the graphics card, probably.

So now I'm insubordinate? Hm. That's interesting. I agreed with you, sure, maybe a little more rudely than I should have, but you don't need to go and call me derogatory things like insubordinate. I think it is you who stepped out of line.

I made you? Did I use some kind of Jedi mind control on you to type all that?

$600 is enough for a full build. Although more would be better. Well, it depends on what all he needs. But yes, $1000 would be ideal.

Don't you love it when people ask for help, and then you're on to help, and they're offline. -.-

As much as I would like to spend $1000 on upgrades, I honestly don't want to. I would like to hear your side for a Intel build Bane as I have started to like the i3/i5 series the more and more I look at it and read over. I'm not in dire need of a gfx card as they seem to come out with new ones every day. I'm just looking for people's input on what they would do for a simple upgrade to a quad core or nice dual core with some ddr3 ram and a solid mobo & psu, nothing to fancy but enough to get the job done for Black Ops, CoD4 & CSS.

Edit: For reference here is my current build.
AMD Athlon x2 5000 (2.6ghz)
2GB of DDR2 800 ram
EVGA 9800GT 512mb
ASRock 790GX Mobo
Rosewill 550W PSU- 2 12v rails @ 18A each
