Halo: Reach - Day of release thoughts

must play title - feels like the best Halo of the series. Haven't tried MP yet.

I'm liking it so far. It really reminds me of Halo C.E. for some reason. I haven't tried the multiplayer yet though.

Erm, what?
It's my job.

Why would ANOTHER halo game win game of the year when there has been much more impressive titles. Hell, Amnesia an indie title is more deserving of game of the year than reach.

Also saying that it is better than mw2 doesn't say much.
I never said that Halo deserves GOTY; It will win because it's a Halo title and because GOTY is a popularity contest.

Delta, actually. Which is much more polished than betas.

Folks lets get this thread back on topic. Anyways the SP is a pain in the butt this time around. As for the MP will right now there are some hiccups because well their servers are getting hammered right now. Here is a picture from early today.

Probably not going to get it for awhile(money issues)...it looks good, though. I have enjoyed Halo games in the past, and this one looks much better than the last 4.

Well, it shouldn't be a popularity contest, and there are a bunch that don't do voting systems and pick their games. That's one of the reasons I said the thing about twilight winning movie awards every year for their sequels, because a ton of fan girls go and vote for them.

Also, in the case of innovation see Amnesia. I mentioned it before, indie game but awesome and innovative game play and probably one of the scariest games I've played.
Looks interesting, will have to look more into it, not a fan of horror games, but this looks intriguing.

Cool stories bros, I'm glad we got the whole GOTY thing being rigged thing outta our systems.

Halo will NOT win GOTY, I'm sure of that. Doesn't give off that kinda vibe. Neither will SC2.

I know I'm going to get a TON of crap for this, but Reach is basically Halo 4. ODST was an expansion pack, so this is the real successor to Halo 3. And from what I heard, it does an excellent job. Halo was the series that got me started on games, and FPS' and I've always like the series, even through all the crap it's been getting lately. All the brogamer, casual, too mainstream crap is not going to stop me from going to the store tomorrow and picking it up.

(Amnesia should win GOTY, hands down)

First off, I've never even heard of Amnesia so I doubt its going to win GOTY, Second those are the 2 biggest games of the year so far if they don't have a shot at GOTY, I don't know what does?

Yup, and I'm going to be the first to do so. Halo: Reach is a prequel and a standalone title.

Also, 343 Industries will be developing Halo 4 (or whatever they choose to call it).

Amnesia looks amazing... I'm buying it now... I totally thought it was coming out next month... (fail, right?)

I absolutely loved the Penumbra series and Amnesia looks stunning.

FYI: Penumbra = only games besides HL2 (the fast zombies get me EVERY time :P) thats ever scared me. The first time through Overture I got so terrified that when my sister flicked on the light in the room I literally jumped out of my seat.

Oh, and I've played tons of other 'scary' games (both FEARs, Dead Space, many others I can't remember the names of) and all they've ever done is slightly startle me. Penumbra just captured the atmosphere perfectly and made it excruciatingly terrifying IMHO. And thats what I loved about it.

The funny thing was none of the monsters except Clarence at the end were even partially effective against you as you could easily sprint faster than them anywhere throwing stuff in there way, they were easy as heck to escape, yet somehow they absolutely terrified you.

It's mad crazy how some people are awesome at this game. I can dominate on any other game, but for some reason I gt my butt kicked in the Halo games.

I blame it on other people's luck-based lack of strategy; I overthink it. Though I never played Halo with cover in mind, so that might help.

Oh wait, but I'm not TERRIBLE at Halo. Ooops. Must be thinking of something else. Something that may or may not begin with "C" and end with "e 2"

[Edit]
No, I'm serious...:( I have a terrible memory, and I haven't played either in a while.

Well, I played it with my friend yesterday, and I had fun. I can't say that the multiplayer is fun because of anything special tho. I mean, all I did was run around with the sprint, pay attention to my surroundings and radar, and shoot stuff. I can't find any reason why I should buy an Xbox, Live, and then the game. I do the same thing in others games.

Also, I feel pissed off that I was considering the option of getting and Xbox for Reach, and then trying to get my monies worth of the Xbox buy buying others maybe, but I found out that, for some reason (money, duh), I wont be able to online co-op the campaign if I buy a 4GB arcade, because it demands a hard drive. That is simply ridiculous. MS just keeps trying to squeeze money out of it's user base.

And don't anyone say it's a QA thing, because it specifically gives you a error message in-game. Bungie knew they you needed a hard drive. MS says they are looking into the "issue," but it's all just so irritating I think I just wont every own an Xbox. Every time they have a game I think I'll like they like to give me the middle finger.

You can just buy one with a hard drive? I don't see a reason not too, plus the game saves on the hard drive while you play it, so therefore you need one.

You don't need a hard drive for the new one.
And supposedly, MS will fix that.[Edit, oops you mentioned that]
Also, I don't think any one game justifies buying a 360. On the other hand...no, nevermind.
