Diverse Best Games?

What would you say that the best games are in the various genres? Now, this is for their time, and not necessarily now versus then, because for many that isn't comparable. Here are some general ideas.

FPS
Halo CE

RPG
Oblivion

RTS
Age of Empires 2

Just examples, not necessarily my favorites. I am just curious to see which games people might choose for different categories. No need to state ones that you haven't played. So if you are not an MMO player, no need to post one. If you are not an RTS player, no need to post one. Just post what you actually have played and have an opinion about.

For racing, I would have to say either Burnout 3: Takedown or Burnout Revenge.

Fps- Not sure, I like a lot of them
Rpg- Animal Crossing?
Rts- an old one, it's obsolete now, but its called Empire Earth
Racing- Anything from the Burnout series, or NFS Underground 1&2.

Hmm... I'll pick a few(well maybe a little bit more than a few. lol) memorable games I've enjoyed/ got me into a game genres

Age of Empires 2, got me into rts on the PC. Which brought me up to more advanced rts such as World in Conflict

Burnout revenge, was one of the most entertaining racing games ive played (and I hate racing games for the most part)

KotOR, really brought me into the rpg genre of gaming lol

Runescape and Warrock(free to play fps) got me into computer gaming. Everything was on a console for me up until then.

Star Wars Galaxies... My 1st true mmorpg p2p experience... Still <3 that game, may have to resub for a month =p

Halo 2. My first purchase when I bought my xbox after my ps2 stopped working heh.

the prince of persia series. These games were great lol! Especially since I didn't play online games yet.

omg... >_< how could I forget. FABLE!!! <3 all of the fable games like no other lol

Very nice compilation and choices dude! You have a lot of the old classics in there, even if I don't agree with a few of them.

@Ruthless.Assassin, WoW would be an MMO or an MMORPG. Still a good choice though!

I love some of the picks in here. You guys have a very diverse amount of different games that you like. :laugh:

RTS: Command and Conquer. also Warcraft 2. C&CRE is still my favourite rts of all time...of alllll time.
Racing: Gran Turismo
FPS: (kind of...kind of fps adventure) Deus Ex. and of course the number one FPS Wolfenstein 3D. and of course Goldeneye/Perfect Dark.
Fighting: Tekken. also Street Fighter
Side Scroller: Battletoads.
Sports: NHL 93 (but really the whole series...still easily the best hockey games ever made)
Adventure: Zelda 64
Multiplayer: Mario Party / Super Smash Bros

almost forgot, RPG Baldurs Gate 2

Ooh, RTS. Forgot. And fighting.
Strategy: Haven't played any strategy game more than I have played DOW (but Advance Wars Dual Strike comes close)
Fighting: Soul Calibur IV manages to beat Marvel vs. Capcom 2 just slightly. Well, no. By a lot. I always played the Soul Caliburs more.

I love Empire Earth. Even though every civilization was near identical as far as units goes, it didn't matter cause it was a blast to play. I still play it from time to time.

I'm choosing based on how ground breaking they were.
FPS: Tie between Halo: CE and Halflife 2. HL2 introduced the ground breaking Source engine while Halo truely made shooters fun on the consoles.

RTS: Starcraft. Not only was the rock,paper, scissors balance groundbreaking at the time, but so was battle.net, truely introducing online play into gaming.

Racing: Grand Turismo. Nuff said.

RPG: Too many groundbreaking RPGs out there.
