Dislike of DOD:S ranking system!

I just put my score/rank/stats behind me. They mattered a few years ago in CAL-im (especially when they introduced RPI rankings for playoff and title contention). Now I just play purely for fun. But despite that, DoD was not designed as a deathmatch game, it is strongly tied to its intentional gameplay mechanic - capture the flag. I personally like the stats system as it is. It makes for a more exciting experience, placing a clear emphasis on objective based combat and not lone-wolf run and gunning, though you can definitely do that in DoD (and still have a blast... literally!).

Maybe because if you actually care about how much skill you have you know what the points system is debalanced?

I can tell with 99% certainty that you started out in CS:S just from that. I know that Ill Legend and his guys don't teach people to think like that either. It's just not healthy to get obsessed with them and try to couch it in "skill increase". Everyone knows that the stats system might not be the best representation of "skill", but it's certainly adequate for logging player time, basic stats, and chat logs. The best players come out and show what they have; then people talk about THEM. Never tout your own "skill", or you'll never hear the end of it.

Here's a TL;DR of the rest of this thread:

Type "hlx_display 0" in chat, and never worry about the stats again. Focus on killing people and having a good time.

Nuff said. Its not even the first time said in this thread. If you don't like it, shut it off. If you think that showing off your so called "Rank" in the clan will make you feel better, go ahead and keep playing by this system.

I just find it funny when people say "Don't worry about the stats, don't worry about your score" blahblahblah but then people refer to how good or not good somebody is by their score or ranking.

Agreed.

To anyone that has any argument to this thread or anything else to say, copy and paste the above quotes at the end of your thread response and save everyone else some time. :P
