Does anyone really believe that 2012 will ever happen? Why or Why not?

Personally, I have seen may things that are somewhat showing the signs of the worlds' end. However I do not think that all of humanity will be dying out....Anyways voice out your thoughts!

Well, seriously. I don't think that these people thousands of years ago just so happened to predict 2012, I honestly don't think it'll happen. But if it does, I love you all.

This thread again....

This is what you think about during Massage 101?

Also, Of course 2012 will happen. Right after 2011. No apoc though.

The only Apocalypse that we will ever see will be started by ourselves.

We need no religious, prophetical or supernatural events to assist us.

As for a date? Ask the people in power. ;)

Actually, if there is an genocide generated by human beings it will probably be driven by religion. Aren't all wars somehow generated by religion?

I have an awesome counter argument for that, but we need to keep religion out of this community as a topic of discussion.

As for most wars, yes, religion (or religious ideals) has been the cause. As for genocide, there are many reasons for that, but not always caused by religious tension.

No.

That's really all I can say, remember when the world was going to end in 2000? Yeah...

Yeah, The light went out in my house.....cuz i kinda sorta kicked a ball into it and it like just went out....that was fun xD

Sorry, just stating a point. Trust me, I know, I don't want to get into a religious argument. I'm just stating a point. Last time I checked that was perfectly fine.

Honestly, you guys have no clue what you are talking about. I used to have friends that were part Mayan. I talked to their parents and grandparents about this. The Mayans NEVER said this was the be the end of the world. According to what I was told, the Mayans have 3 calendars. A short, medium, and long one. Once all 3 end, it will restart again with the short one. The date December 21st 2012 is supposed to be the date that it either ends or resets the cycle. I honestly think I am right and that you are all wrong being I trust the word of a Mayan decent over yours. Thanks for your time.

There have been many people in the past who've predicted the end of the world. The Mayans just had the most (arguably) media/pop culture coverage.

Black - It's okay to believe in something that can't be immediately proven. Billions do it everyday with their various religions. :)

Haha, I dont believe in it, but it is interesting to think about.

Plus i am currently in a world mythology class and like Mega stated my teacher said that it is just the end of a cycle and the start of a new one xD

Nah, the world was supposed to end a lot of times. But were still here. So no
