Ventrilo Groups

As a new member in eGO i think its abit annoying that Ventrilo is one big mess, i think all the members should be put into a group with their division name so they would appear like [Mod Division] DataShark

Its fairly annoying when you go on vent and have no clue about who is in your division and what people are doing. I personally love playing something with other people so when i see 7 people in the battlefield channel and i go in there and ask what they are playing it turns out that noone is actually playing battlefield. I think there should be more organisation on the ventrilo so that you know who belongs in which division.

Maybe if you went vent more you would know whos in your division?

TBH, all those tags would make the vent channels worse, the leaders have it because they need them.

Also, it has all just been organised alphabetically so I don't see why its a mess.

Finally just to reiterate those tags IMO will be useless and it will just make vent even worse.

However in future please post stuff like this in the DropBox so leadership can review it as they see fit.

Anyway i dont think you understand, im not talking about channels im talking about ventrilo accounts. When someone has been accepted make them a ventrilo account and put them in a group with the division name so when they log on ventrilo their name will appear like [Mod Division] DataShark

Example right now i'd like to talk to someone in the mod division on ventrilo but i dont know who is in what division, i need to know if the insurgency event tonight really is at 12 am gmt cause last time i stayed up hours after i was supposed to be sleeping to attend the event just to join the ventrilo channel and find out it has been moved two hours.

Well in all honesty, Data...in eGO, everyone isn't bound to their division. Being in an division gives us a group of friends (and leadership) to get to know. That's where we will make a majority of our friends and that's also the leadership team you will be dealing with when you have an issue.

So it's understandable that you might be looking for players from your own division. Chances are, in one of Mod's Ventrilo Rooms there will be a member (or at least people who play Mod games and therefore follow along with what's going on in the division)! Keep an eye out on the forum and try to remember some names of Mod division players and leadership. Of course leadership has title tags and you'll often find some hanging out in the Leadership Only channel for your division. Don't think someone has to be from your division in order for them to know about what's going on! I often browse CS:S and DoD:S forums to see what's new and what's happening.


Having groups on Ventrilo would be a mess and it would be another headache every time a new member joined. Passwords would get lost and people would get confused! (And having a title would just make names longer).

Add some Mod/Insurgency players on Steam as well, that can really help you get to know them and contact them if you need something! And if you have a question about an event in your division, post in the Division Discussion subforum for Mod! Chances are someone will respond very quickly with an answer.

As Darth just said, adding a tag to everyone's names would only make ventrilo more of a mess, Advisors and up have the tags because we need to be distinguished for regular members.

Think about the time and effort council would have to put in to make sure every single member of eGO was registered and had thier own password, also keep in mind eGO has over 36 000 members.

You should also remember that those people playing games in your channel may be members of your division, just not playing a game supported by that division, this is a common thing, just talk to people in your division rooms, they will happily chat with you and tell you what division they are form.

To sum this all up, ventrilo groups are not practical, it would be to confusing looking for leadership when everyone has a tag, and names would be harder to see too.
