Thrakx here. You can add me on steam if you like also by adding Thrakx2. If you do that I should show up as Randy Marsh in steam. I live on the West coast, and I should be available from like 6pm on through the evenings.

I like to Medic and Engineer. I prefer to act as Calvary, driving land vehicles, or acting as a mechanic/gunner, but I also know when to heal/revive, and can sling grenades with the best of em.

Recently I've been playing a lot more BCV. I've been really sick of pubbing lately, and I'm excited to get a chance to play with some competent squads, POSSIBLY USING TEAMWORK! zomg.

Ill find my way around to the servers this evening sometime, till then keep your head down and be careful out there!

so what does a guy have to do to get into one of the eg servers? I only managed to find one by accident.
I Couldn't find a place to manually enter an IP or anything like that, but I did find one eG server randomly, only to have it be, of course full.

I que'd up for a while anyway before I gave up, then I went to some server where I got made fun of for "sucking" which of course I do because I'm relatively new to the game.
I also went to see how the Vent server works, and sat there for quite a while pretty unsure about how to proceed. Currently my mic is sort of messing up, but I didn't hear anyone say anything to me while I was in there, and I was pretty unclear on whether my mic was even working anyway, so I kinda bounced out...
Not too sure what to do next to actually play with anyone...

Search for =(eGO)= making sure that all the filters are off. it is case sensitive. That should do it for you.

How do I go about getting into an actual game though?
I get the concept of the que, but I really have better things to do then wait around to join a full server.

In which case I find myself hitting quit and going to play something else, usually something CoD or blops.

Same things with vent. I mean I can fire it up, but if I usually don't sit there with it going while I Idle in a channel waiting for something to happen.

In our servers you will most likely have to wait on a queue, that goes for almost any division. Our servers are liked by the pub population I guess :)

What I do: jump in the 1-2 man queue, stand up, grab a coke, a snack, bring it back to the game station and the game is loading. :)

What ya do is recruit so much that you get a reserved slot, oh yea!

boy that saddens me. I just don't have the patience to sit around waiting when I specifically jumped through a ton of hoops just trying to find a group of people to play with and NOT have to deal with pubs and all their issues.

Dude seriously though, if the servers are all public, then whats the point of trying to "join up" in the first place.
I started today looking for a group to play with specifically to STOP pubbing.

Now this seems like more of the same. You say to recruit more people. But honestly I haven't had an "Awesome" enough experience so far to really recommend this group to anyone else.

It seems as though perhaps I joined up under a false impression. I hope this is NOT the case, cause i AM really sick of pubbing my games and I WOULD really like to meet some cool people who I can play with as a team. However if this isn't the case, then hey man- no hard feelings. I can always find an alternative.

So you know, we are not a competitive clan. NOT TO SAY that the BC2 division doesn't scrim once in awhile. The main focus is playing and having fun. You keep saying you are tired of "pubbing" yet our servers is exactly that, a pub server. NOW, we have alot of really good players which I think make the BC2 eGO servers stand out from most of the other pub servers, which I think you will enjoy.

I do see a lack of patience with you (I'm the same way for the most part) but sometimes you need to take a min and let things work out instead of getting upset and jumping ship. The wait for a full server is never that long, I have never waited more than a min or two. BC2 vent channels always have people in them. Hop in, see which server peeps are on, join said server, and profit.

Here is the list of servers:

http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/cmps_index.php?pageid=serverlist&game=bc2

Now I would say give it one more try and see what happens. It sounds like all you need is a good gaming session with some of our BC2 peeps and you will be a happy campe......I mean tactician. :)

Closing thread since thrakx posted he was leaving.

Sorry thrakx that you feel as though you weren't welcomed, if you feel like giving it a real eGO try come to the Bad Company 2 channels in vent. Each game we support is listed in Ventrilo in alphabetical order, so the BC2 channels are near the top and they're full almost all the time except for like 5am haha. There's plenty of people who would love to squad up and improve your BC2 experience you just need to join our rooms and introduce yourself.

Just to address your other issues:

  • BC2 does not have any system for adding servers by IP. As stated earlier you can use the search function of the server browser and type (eGO) which is case sensitive, and our servers will show up. We have out server info posted in both a sticky in this forum and the Game Server Listings section of the site on the left hand sidebar.

  • Your queue issue derives from the setup of BC2 by the developers, to give it an analogy, in CoD: Black Ops when you want to join a server thats full you simply get a message saying so and it kicks you back to the browser. In BC2 it adds you to a queue so you can instantly join once someone leaves instead of sitting there hitting refresh over and over.

  • We do run competitive events every so often, be it a friendly scrim with another gaming clan or an inter-clan tournament like our Squad Rush Tournament, here are the results from the last tournament in November.

  • As an organization we run public servers, otherwise they wouldn't have any players and it would be a locked (passworded) server. Just because the servers are open to anyone who joins does not mean we dont squad up or use team work, in fact its the opposite. Our eG and eGO members are also administrators on the servers to keep punks, greifers and general troublemakers out so everyone can enjoy their play time here, be it a pub or member.

Hope that helps clear up any confusion, weather you decide to stay or leave is up to you but either way, we wish you the best of luck in future gaming endeavors.
