Hi, I'm new...

Hello everyone from the TF2 division! I just wanted to drop by the TF2 forums and say some stuff...

Well first, I got to thank PloxBox for gifting me this amazing game that I've been playing for the past few days and I can't stop playing it. Without him, I would've never played it...

So far, I've played a few different classes like heavy, medic, soldier, spy and they all seem pretty fun to play with. Before this all happened, I would tell myself "TF2 is a kid's game, I will NEVER play it." (no offense) - And yesterday, I was a bit bored of CS:S so I joined TF2 and tried it out for 20 minutes. Afterward, I was hooked and I played it for 3 or 4 hours.

Since I got a gist of the game and how things work there are a few things I'm confused about the division.

1) Are there any recruiting contest or do you guys hold any sort of big events? (Besides the Soldier vs. Soldier)
2) What are those hats and why the heck are they like 17$?
3) Are there any competitive teams/scrim teams/whatever you guys call it leagues?
4) Is there anything else that's awesome about this division?

Anyways, I look forward to play TF2, attend events, and have a blast with everyone in the division!

Hi there, I'm new too but here's what I've seen so far

1) Yes there are recruiting contests, there are also weekly events on the event server that are a blast, as well as just random item giveaways in game!
2) You'll learn to love/hate hats soon enough
3) Like Shinobi said there's the TF2 team tournament, as well as other competitive groups
4) Everyone is really friendly, just ask people in game if you ever have questions or issues with the game as you get used to it!

Hats are purely cosmetic and are just something people like to collect once they've gotten all the weapons they want. However, there is an exception to this rule, and they are called set hats which came from a contest from the website Polycount. These five hats when worn with certain weapons give the player an added bonus. Valve has acknowledged this as a mistake and has released new sets without hats but the old ones remain, likely because people payed money for them.

For more information on set hats and the game itself I suggest the official wiki or add me to friends if you'd rather just ask a quick question.

thoes hats are just items u can buy but can also be obtained by random as well

3) Are there any competitive teams/scrim teams/whatever you guys call it leagues?
there will be during the upcoming summer from what i heard from mr. kevinmaster

1: Yes there is, tf2 division has a hell of a lot of awesome fun events with amazing super great EC's, me being the only one but whatever. The events are fun, we do have recruiting contests (In fact click the Scavanger hunt sticky and i do beleive that has somethin do deal with recruits )
2: Those are set hats, hats when if you wear them with some weapons, you get a set bonus. Like the fez hat, if you wear that on the spy with 2 new weapons, the sound you make when you uncloak disapears.
3: YEP. tf2 division is gonna have tf2 league season 3 this summer i think.
4: Me. I'm not that self centered, I've had other people agree that i am the most interesting and most amazing person in tf2, maybe even in all of eGO.

ALSO since your name is the same name of my favorite song, I love you already!!
