Steam gifting Question.

[Mizenku]

Can you gift a steam game that you have already added to your account?

[Fluxion]

Yes.

When you are purchasing it at the Steam store, it has two options, purchase this game or gift this game. Because you already have it, purchase option is grayed out, while you can still gift it.

Can you transfer games from account to account?

[Dead Tom]

No, if you wish to give a game to a friend you must gift it to them when you purchase. Pre-existing games on your account will always stay with your account.

Actually its possible to buy the game a second time. It just allows you to give 1 of the 2 purchased copies of that game to someone.

Yes, that is called gifting. The "Purchase For Myself" button is grayed out, however you can still gift it, which is what I said :chair:

i really wish they would allow gifting of games you already own lol (as in not buying it again like giving up your to give to someone else)

but i can see why they don;t allow it...it would make account theft even more serious because they could just steal your account send the games to them selves then do w/e they want with ur account or try and scam your friends and continue to do it

although they could just make it so you have to authorize the transfer somehow off steam like vai email (or even better make it text you for authorization sorta like you can have paypal do)

and to prevent people from basically sharing teh game (which is probably another reason it isnt allow because one person could play it give it aay they play it give it away aka they lose money ion the long run) they could just have it say only one gift per copy like it knows if it was gifted already so who ever the receiver is cannot give it away

What happens if you get VAC banned, make a new account and "give" all your games to your new account? Its an endless loop! There's so many reasons why its not allowed lol.

I think you can give a gifted game (that was for you) to another person (as long as its not opened). Unless I'm mistaken.
