I get a low score. I don't know why, either. I was clocked at 950/1156, and lost to someone with a Phenom II 955 and a 6850. D:

It turns out that the Phenom II's scale ridiculously well up to around 4Ghz. When you compare an i7 @ 4Ghz to a Phenom II X4 @ 4Ghz, you get virtually identical results in gaming. The i7's are deadly in multimedia and compression tasks, but the Phenom II's are killer gaming chips at higher frequencies. The Phenom II X4's are especially good when you set the memory high (1600mhz) and set the NB frequency to around 2600Mhz. If you leave the memory and NB at stock, it will seriously shave about 10-15% off your overall performance. I think that's why a lot of review sites favor the i5/i7's so much. They don't know how to set up the PII's for maximum performance.

The PII X4's are not weak when it comes to gaming. Quite the opposite, actually.

ya i can't wait to get a x4 955 or 965 with better cooling and clock it to at least 4ghz - tho right now for anything but benchmarking my rig is perfectly fine - maxing out any and all games i play with a solid 60 fps (vsync enabled - might as well when you can)

but getting a 955 will future proof me for awhile - yes they are older chips now but they are still beast and will still continue to be beasts since new releases are all 6 core now, which will take awhile to catch on in programs, and even longer for games.

Review sites use i7s because they can do both SLI and CF on the same board to keep results consistant.

And people would complain if they used something other than the "best"
