Yay cant wait im building a new gaming PC - Specs

Not to be mean but your acting like a real A**. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+...43288&skuId=1473205&st=motherboard&cp=1&lp=10

Thats the motherboard im useing. Dont act like a total jerk and start thinking you know everything.

That mobo is $5 cheaper on the egg and there's a combo deal minus power supply for $504 with a 6 core, there's a also a complete build minus case for $510 here- $500 combo deals

How exactly am I being an ass? You're the one that got cocky and said you could play minecraft. You also said the onboard 4250 on the 880G could play Crysis on low-medium, when it can't with the CPU you have in mind. If you're going to ask for help with a build don't push away the people that are helping you.

First build doesn't have a discrete video card, but the second build does. This build without the discrete card will have a much better chance at playing more demanding games.
I kept your In Win Griffin in there.
Seasonic builds top notch PSU.
The motherboard you originally picked is fine.
This RAM has great stock timing.
The 555 CPU will overclock and may unlock to a triple or quad if you decide to.
F3's are excellent hard drives and outperform most competitors.
The 5770 in the second build will provide "playable" FPS on high some AA at 1920x1080 in Crysis.
If you decide you need a quad core, just replace the 555 with a 955 for ~$40 more. Everything is compatible.
Press Ctrl and + to zoom in and Ctrl 0 to go back to normal.

Do you have an Operating system? OEM copies won't move from build to build without some serious sucking up to Microsoft. If you need an OS, add $100 for an OEM copy of Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.

No offense Dronks, but those builds could use some work. If you look around for good combos, you can save quite a bit of money.

I would highly recommend not skimping on a case (but that doesn't mean you have to get a $100+ case), as working in one will be a nightmare, and you could possibly hurt yourself (sharp corners). For low budgets, I'd recommend a HAF 912.

The motherboard is a mircoATX form factor, which usually lack a lot of the features that are semi-standard on ATX motherboards. Unless you're doing a specialty build (that requires a small form factor), I would stay away from mATX boards for now.

The graphics card is pretty decent, but you can get a GTS 450 1GB for around $115, which isn't too much worse, or even get a 460 768MB for around $150 which is a lot better. I wouldn't really recommend the 5770 anymore, unless you are on a very strict budget.

The power supply is a good choice, but this system wouldn't need more than a CX430 or similar. Because of the low cost and the decent looks (I just did a build with one not too long ago), I'd go with the CX430 over other ~400W units.

Depending on what games you play, the Athlon II 400 series is a better choice because it has more cores, and not every Phenom II 500 series is guaranteed to overclock, and who's to say the VRMs could even handle it? But, if most games only use one or two cores, then might as well go with the Phenom II 500 series.

That ram seems a tad overpriced to. Unless you're going to be setting benchmark records, getting more than just some 'normal' memory sticks isn't needed, and won't cost more than $45 (since the last time I checked).

Just some thoughts. I'll do a build and edit it into this post.

/E Here is the build.
I actually go manage to get a Phenom II 820 and a GTX 460 in there, while staying under $580. If you need an OS, then I might be able to get you a legit copy of Windows 7 Pro. Big maybe. PM me if you need it. Here is the build.

None taken, you've downgraded the motherboard, RAM and power supply to squeeze in a 460 and the quad core. There are many ways to build, I added performance and quality oriented items to my builds while you've gone cheaper on core components and higher end on easy to swap parts.

The RAM you've chosen has worse timings than my build and will probably set to 1333 speed in BIOS anyway. Not sure if the OP would take the seconds it takes to adjust RAM speed and timings. lol this isn't benchmark RAM but it will help this low end build perform.

The CX500 is a low end power supply, hence why it's so cheap. The power supply is the heart of your system. Why cheap out? The S12II 520 is a high end unit with >87% efficiency and higher quality guts.

MATX boards usually just lack the amount of PCI slots an ATX mobo can support. This is a cheap build and the ATX mobo you've chosen actually has less features than what I've gone with.

The OP thinks he doesn't need a discreet video card. I added the 5770 because it's a good bang for your buck card, which is what we're going for here.

The Phenom II 555 will overlcock but may not unlock, I'm betting that was a typo on your side. The 840 you've found is probably the best choice since it's only $20 more than the 555.

I left the case the OP wanted because I thought he liked the way it looks and it has good enough airflow. A case is just a case they all have motherboard trays, HDD racks, optical drive bays etc. As long as it isn't air tight, they're all about the same.

You imply that I didn't choose quality parts. I've had direct experience with the majority of the parts I've selected, and none of them are low quality.

RAM speeds/timings have a very little effect that it's negligible unless you're wanting to set a record for how fast your computer can calculate pi to 1 million places. (directed at reflex, not you)

CX500 is a fine unit. It's cheap because it's not an enthusiast unit. It's still good, none-the-less. S12II is hardly high end anymore, but it's still a good platform.

Yeah, but the OP doesn't seem like he needs a bunch of features he won't even sneeze at, you know? Unless the person is asking for a specific feature, there's no need to get a swiss army knife motherboard.

5770 used to be a good bang for buck. Like I said, it's only a viable option if you're under a very strict budget. The 460 I selected is only $20 more, and if you can't afford that, then yes, the 5770 is for you.

Most likely. I don't generally proof read my posts, so it's very probable. :P The 840 is a very good chip, but since it's not BE, a lot of people wouldn't even look at it.

While that's fine and dandy, the OP should realize that the case will probably suck in terms of quality and features, such as a lackluster cable management system, and cheap materials use. Also, a lack of rounded edges inside the case can leave you with cuts on your hands. I've had a few of those. They're no fun. Just looking out for the OP.

I wouldn't have chosen some of the parts you chose. Just because you haven't had a problem doesn't mean someone else won't. Which is why it's better to buy quality parts, especially for someone that can't choose his own components.

RAM timings and speeds could also imply the quality of the memory. I'd be willing to bet that lower timings with less voltage will last longer than the latter. Just a theory though, I have no data to prove it.

It's cheap because it's low end. Why does it only have a 2 year warranty? And why isn't the S12II 520 a quality PSU anymore? It uses Jap caps, has a ball bearing fan, has SLI and Crossfire support, has EPS 12V support, has a 5 year warranty and is Bronze certified. I wouldn't consider a 520w PSU an enthusiast PSU BTW.

The mobo I chose basically has enough USB ports to drive however many USB devices he may need and the rest of the overclocking stuff nearly every ASUS board has. The mobo you chose has 2 more X1 slots, 1 more PCI slot, 1 more PS2 port (lol), 1 more 1394 port (who uses 1394?) a Coaxial S/PDIF out and no onboard video like the OP wanted. Kinda seems like you went for the swiss army mobo.

I definitely agree with you about the edges. I just don't question it anymore because most people aren't in the case that much.

OMFG. 2$ in shipping? It cost me more to ship a damn video game to my door. Like 5 bucks. Thank you phobus. I Do believe i might go with your stuff. But this means i will have to pay for the shipping. And the wait. Which idk if i can wait any longer. im too excited. lol But i could try. XD

PHOBUS GIMME DE LINKS TO ALL THE THINGS YOU LISTED. Pwease? -makes little 3 year old gurl face-

ALSO GUYS. I am on a strict budget. As i am only 15. I cant afford the best of the best. So my max out is 500. I can go over to add the Operating system but parts wise i cant spend over 500.

don't be hatin' on PS/2.

When you are at 5.6GHz, and your southbridge starts flaking out, and not accepting USB correctly, you will be thankful for the PS/2

Now on the the useful part of my post:

Things i noticed:

1. The Gigabyte board in Ph's build uses much higher quality VRMs than the ASUS. I too prefer ATX to uATX

2. The difference between 1333 7-7-7-21 and 1600 9-9-9-24 will likely make no difference to this user. I personally prefer lower latencies to higher clocks with AMD builds, but in this instance, it doesn't really matter.

3. The Phenom 840 is actually an Athlon II X4. Don't be fooled, it has no L3 like a real phenom.

4. 500W is kinda overkill for this build. I feel like i say this a lot around here.....
The seasonic is a better unit, but in this instance, i don't think the price premium is worth it. Sure the CX series doesn't crossload well, but i don't think that will be an issue in this build.

5. cases are dumb :p

PS/2 is actually better than USB when it comes to keyboard. NKRO, anyone?

3. I did not notice that.

4. It is, but the CX430 was out of stock. :p

5. Depends on how well you can get the cable management. Your bench is fugly. That guy that just posted in the Gaming Rig thread, now his bench is sexy. Although the walls are not. Puke green ftw >.<

PS/2 likes to work when your southbridge does not. It is kinda epic that way.

3. yea, AMD pulled an nVidia there.

4. :O

5. function>form

That's because it isn't controlled via the chipset. It just works.

3. icwatudidthar
4. I know, right? I was like "I'm totally going to get that power supply. Out of stock? Nooooooo!"
5. The ladies don't like your ugly bench bro

PS/2 <3

3. odidu?
4.amazing....
5.Ladies like bare rugged benches....
