Possibly home to the best television shows of all time (of all time), Nickelodeon programs during the 90s make us all d'aww with nostalgia, especially if you see some of the, pardon my french, crap that they have on there now (iCarly makes me giggle sometimes, is that wrong?)
Well I say to you, my fellow 90s babies, weep no more, because this fall Nickelodeon will be rerunning some of the classic shows of our childhood. No, your eyes are not deceiving you, Nickelodeon is dipping its lucrative hand into our hippocampi and plucking our beloved memories of the best shows ever made and putting them in the 12am-2am time slot this fall.
So far 5 shows have been confirmed:
Clarissa Explains It All- Melissa Joan Hart breaks the fourth wall and tells us her life and all the teenage drama llamas that accompany it, as well as dealing with her little brother Ferguson. 10CC to whoever names their child Ferguson. Hard to decide whether I liked this show or Sabrina the Teenage Witch more, something about shooting magic out of my finger seemed appealing....ladies.
Pete & Pete- I don't actually remember watching this show, but I do know it was about two gingers. This fact, aided with the ideas of philosopher John Locke, has led me to theorize that while I was watching the show, my soul left my body in order to populate theirs, leaving me with no memory of the experience.
Kenan & Kel- Who loves orange soda? Kel certainly did, and in a time before the government could regulate the use of welfare on sugary drinks (he had to be getting the money somehow, I mean where were his parents?), I believe it was the main theme of the show. Chris's mother must be very happy about the forthcoming reruns.
Or not...
All That- Probably my favorite of the classics, this "SNL for preteens" had a variety of hilarious sketches performed by Nickelodeon's most beloved of cast members. Excuse me while I list every skit that comes to mind; Detective Dan, Earboy, Randy & Mandy, Dear Ashley, Good Burger, Principal William Baines Pimpell, Repair Man..man..man..man, and my personal favorite, Vital Information for Your Everyday Life with my girl Lori Beth Denberg.
The Amanda Show- Amanda Bynes.
While there are sooooo many more shows that I miss that are exploding out of my heart like last night's episode of House as I write this, I simply cannot wait to sit in a puddle of nostalgia-y goo and watch my favorite shows as they bring back all the pleasant memories of my childhood, this time without having to block out the background noise that was my parent's unstable marriage.
