So I have been excitedly keeping track of the state of Kalt in the server rankings since it came back, and for good reason--check out this improvement!
DAY 0: #468
DAY 1: #430
DAY 2: #340
DAY 3: #263
DAY 4: #212

BUT...while I (and a few others) are dedicated to improving Kalt, it is everybody's responsibility to improve the standings of all of our servers, so I propose to you all, Operation April. Throughout the month of April we're all going to do our best to get our servers where they should be--at the top.

Help do your part.
---Play your favorite map to death.
---Then, when you're tired of it, instead of playing CSS or BC2 or Minecraft, go play another server.
---Also, turn off your hlx stat because we all know they don't accurately rank players, so nobody cares how many points you have or what your ranking is.
---Seed servers! When you go to bed or go to lunch/dinner or go to school, just get on a server! Join Specs and just sit there. You are not actively playing, but people see 5-6 people on a server and suddenly 5-6 more of them join. Then people see 12 people on a server and next thing you know it fills up. That's how seeding works. No rewards for it should be necessary. When the server gets full, the admins in-game kick the seeders, just that simple.

I have a serious question. I know this a great way to be getting our servers filled but is it the right way? This can be misleading to players and I know some aren't too fond of it. I have heard some pubbers say our seeding is 'stat padding',ya know we fill our servers with specs just to get our rankings up, and although I know some pubbers are just trolls, some are actually good people looking to have fun, and are pretty upset about joining a server with 10 people and really only playing 2v2.

IMO our pubbers are very important because they fill our servers when we aren't around, so if you have any suggestions on what to, please let me know.

I don't mean to discount anything you said, because yeah maybe you've heard complaints about it, but in my year and a half here I have never heard anybody complain about seeding in any server. Meanwhile, I have seen it work repeatedly in multiple servers. Heck, it's worked multiple times in the last few days on Kalt alone, and then before you know it there are actual players and then I get to be kicked.

i hate to dissagree with you YSD, but im with beef here, i understand 100% the complaints from pubs as when i was one i would of called it "cheap". why not just bite the bullet and get bots if we're just aiming for higher rankings (im not sure if bots actually count though, but they still get people in game), the point is, when i join a game and see 5 people in spec and none playing ill just leave, if i was a pub i wouldnt come back. What gets people playing is.... people playing.

Perhaps, but I just proved again today, at the moment of making this thread, that it works. There was nobody in Kalt...at all. I jumped on to spec. Then it looks like Anni did the same, because he got on shortly after I did. Well then a pubber came because there were a few people in the server. One of the biggest "game-changers" in seeding is that it makes all the difference in the world to people who mark the "only show servers with people in-game" box...because then, if nothing else, they see there is a 24/7 Kalt server A few minutes later a few more people wander in and now there are 18 people in there. I know it's because of seeding, because Kalt usually doesn't get people on its own for a few more hours.

And I think I made clear that the #1 thing we need to do it PLAY the servers, so I am not going to take away from the people who made the most difference in that--being those eGO members (and pubbers) who are actually playing there right now. My only point was that it does help. It's the catalyst to the playing. Your car might run on gas, but if you have a dead battery, it's gonna be tough starting.

I think that 1-3 people is seeding a server. 4+ is unnecessary. People get mad when it is a high number, not when it is just a couple.

If you are tired of the snow, just head to the sewers... Or better yet, hop on a different DoD:S server like Flash and enjoy the cool springtime air. If you need to work on that summer tan, then nothing is better than the beaches of Normandy. Maybe you prefer the urban lifestyle? Donner is waiting for you! If you can't decide, just stick with Anzio until you long for the snow paradise of Kalt.

And I was talking about this with Brain just one-to-one as well. It's not that we're in any sort of disagreement, really. My case is
1) Play the servers
2) Play the servers
3) If you can't play, try to seed an empty one.

I am in no way suggesting "Well...ya know...if we can get 32 people to just sit idly in each server, we'll have the top-ranked servers!"

Here's what I had in mind:
PERFECT RESULTS:
Our servers ranked 1-6.

IDEAL, REALISTIC, ENDPOINT:
All servers Top 20. This, likely, would take a few months.

REALISTIC, "OPERATION APRIL", GOAL:
Avalanche - #1
Donner - Top 15
Anzio - Top 25
Strand - Top 35
Flash - Top 50
Kalt - Top 50

It might seem like, "Yeah right", but I think I am even lowballing a concentrated effort by the entire Division/clan. If we all chipped in, we COULD have the top-ranked servers, 1-6.

The biggest problem I have is I can only play one server at a time, I have been in Kalt and it's been great then I looked at Avalanche and it was empty for a long time, couldnt leave Kalt after waiting all this time . Oh what a dilemma.

Let them complain all they want. We're not seeding just to get our rankings up that'd require us to get 20+ people seeding day around. That's not the intention because frankly it wont work. We're seeding to make the server look like there's people in it and make pubbers come join the server (you're more apt to join a server with 2 people in spec then no players at all) because you know it shows up as 3 people in game. That's the only reason we seed. It's not to increase rankings at all (Because it wont)

i hate to disagree with you YSD, ...

How in the world could anyone hate to disagree with YSD? That makes no sense at all. An opportunity to take the opposite side of one of YSD's arguments is the cherry on my sunday, the bitters in my manhatten, a well turned ankle on a pretty girl. I am sure my good friend Spanky enjoys refuting my opinions. I know I would, were it not for the fact that I would be wrong in doing so.

Seeding. Does no one remember what the connotations of seedy are? I have joined servers boasting players to find myself alone. A dark and dismal place indeed.
