Squirtle = Squirt + turtle?

Squirtle = Squirrel + turtle?

I'm sure some of you have also had this question because if you look at his tail, it kind of resembles a squirrels tail. but... he also doesn't have any other features that resemble a squirrel

Squirt means shoot water or tiny
other pokemon like Charmander...
Char could = charcoal (for fire)
mander = Salamander (for his lizard appearance)

Bulbasaur....
bulb = type of plant
asaur = a dinosaur

So then why wouldn't it be Squirt and turtle combined?

I say he is full turtle. Discuss.

I'd have to say no on the squirrel part because none of the evolutions have any hint of the squirrelness. Plus some turtles have long tails.
