Just curious, as I am from America, and don't really keep up with the social scene of the UK. Do British people care about the wedding as much as the American media does? I was not alive when Diana are Charles were married, but was there this much talk? I don't understand why this is so important to the American media.

I am in no way downing Great Britain, but do you guys honestly care this much about it? It is life 24/7 wedding coverage. I could understand the cultural significance and everything, but wedding of the century?

Discuss.

Just because the media take things over the top it doesn't mean the rest of us care. Im not saying I hate them but it does not really affect me too much ;)

Also to me it seems other countries are more interested than us.

Oh, and one guy is already camped out, outside the front door, hes the only on there.

Apparently there will be snipers, undercover agents, hundreds of metres of railings to create a ring around it.

Also, this is a future king and queen in a fairly powerful country. Even though the monarchy doesn't actually rule they are very powerful and bring in money (so I hear anyway).

On that subject, the media coverage on this is nearly approaching complete mania. Even in the U.S. it almost seems like they can't go through a news broadcast without dedicating 5-10 min to the wedding. I guess they've grown tired of talking about revolutions and nuclear disasters.

Ya I was over @ my moms place on Easter & we were watching Charles & Diana getting married back in 1981. They were posting lil factoids about the whole day. Heres a few that I remember:
There were 3500 people that were @ the wedding & they place that they held the wedding, there was no air conditioning.
Also, as a rule, you were not allowed to get up & use the restroom. So in other words, if you have to go, then you went (thankfully they didnt have that issue).
Near the end of the wedding, you could definitely see a good # of people really getting tired & weary (especially from the royal family side).
The Queen, Princess Diana & the soon-to-be Princess Kate will all have gold wedding rings made from the same gold nugget that was donated from some guy (sorry but I cant remember his name).
Also, Princess Diana accidently messed up Charles' name.

After that show, whatever station we were watching had a lil special on India (1 of the brides maids for Princess Diana). She did an interview with all the people that she could find about their thoughts bout the wedding, yada yada.

Overall, I really dont care bout it, but as usual, its the ladies that are gonna go bonkers on this thing (seeing as how its 3-4 months shy of 30 years since a Prince has married a commoner).

I watch the military channel and sometimes spongebob.[lie/] what's this wedding you speak of? [\lie]

Forget princes and princesses! I'm all about panzerIII's and m4 shermans!

Not much to be interested in, to be honest. I don't understand why the media is hyping it so much.

I mean, there was less media attention for Chelsea Clinton's wedding than there is now for this one. Sad to say that here in the States..

I agree that it's a bit ridiculous about all the hype over the wedding - but from a history buffs perspective, I think it's rather exciting and quite lovely. I'm looking forward to watching it. I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm a girl but psht, I think I'd rather hear about royals (that are actually in love, for once) getting married over Nuclear incidents and the middle eastern war fronts, eh?

Here here!

I'm sick of hearing about it. The best thing about it is people get a day off school/college/work.

Because I miss hearing about Charlie Sheen every time I turn on the news.

Just let it end already. I don't hate the people in the wedding, but I hate all the coverage.

Yeah I think that's kinda weird that the americans care that much about a brittish wedding. I mean i'm from New Zealand so I think it's cool that im getting a king ( :P ) but i guess America likes weddings ^^

Chicks dig royal weddings cause many ladies like to think of themselves as princesses. This means I'm going to have to do some "Prince Harry" like things for my wife, who's totally into this. I just thank god she doesn't still watch dawsons creek. Ugh.

I found this post extremely amusing. Especially the part where you mentioned Dawson's Creek - Jeez, talk about the 90's!
But it's cuuute if you do nice and prince like things for your wife. Marriage is the gift that keeps on giving...Hahahahaha.

so wait the royal wedding doesn't consist of scary spice getting married? But it perplexes me why any one would care about their wedding or celebrities in general when obviously they do no care about you!
