Battlefield 3 System Requirements(?)

Both minimum and recommended system requirements have been released, by the Battlefield 3 (seems unofficial so far) facebook page.

Minimum System Requirements

Processor: Dual Core
Memory: 2 GB
Hard Drive: 15 GB for Digital Version, 10 GB for Disc Version
Video Memory: 256 MB
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 10
Keyboard and Mouse
DVD Rom Drive

Recommended System Requirements

Processor: Quadcore Processor
Memory: 4 GB
Hard Drive: 15 GB for Digital Version, 10 GB for Disc Version
Video Memory: 512 MB
Sound Card: DirectX Compatible
DirectX: 11
Keyboard and Mouse
DVD Rom Drive

Hard to believe that I'm one gfx card upgrade away from being able to play this beast of a game nicely. PC spec requirements are always so vague, eg. 512 video memory, and the rest of a gfx card is seemingly irrelevant.

Keep in mind the required and the recommended computer specifications listed are just to play the game. If you want to play BF3 on max settings, you need to double the recommended.

also ppl seem to be panicking about a significant change in system requirements from bc2 to bf3. what ppl dont realize is that yes there will be some change but not significant because it is an entirely new engine practically, which means better optimization in the coding which means it can run smoother on similar settings as older games with the engine's previous versions

i.e. crysis, crysis warhead, crysis 2. they brought out a new engine version with each game yet the system requirements dropped with each game and the game also looked better. for example even the best pc's today cant run the original crysis on max settings extremely well but they can play crysis 2 on max settings without a hiccup even though crysis 2 looks better

Bad Company 2 is much more processor heavy than anything else and I wouldn't be surprised if BF3 is the same way so if your graphics card is the recommended one then I would recommend getting a new processor and memory first.

*problem: they have the sli tabs for 2 way sli, but! they arent sli compatible yet, out of the box right now they do NOT support sli so dont buy them if you are planning on using them for sli, evga said they might enable sli in a future driver but atm nope

i still think the requirements are way too low. ik u guys have explained it alot and very well, but it just seems too good to be true. i bet at the last seccond they're gonna add some kind of high graphic step up that will make everyone have to get a new graphics card to play it. but thats only my conspiracy theorist brain talking

hmm time to start looking at computer parts again. so far i like the GTX 560 Ti DS (might SLI later) and i7-2600K just need to find a mother board, ram, rom, and a power supply(?????). so may numbers...

what use does a case have besides costing more money?
