Lower than usual framerate in BC2 - 350K CC reward for anyone who helps me fix this.

NOTE: Every other game works normally, but BC2 is the only one that seems to be having problems

This is a whole lot to read, but if you have the know-how and would like to help me out (along with getting 350K casino cash if you choose), then please continue reading. I've tried not to make it a huge wall of text.

Hello. I'm offering most of my casino cash to whoever that can help me with my problem. I've been having this problem for the past couple of days now, and it makes BC2 more unplayable than it already is, also lessening my personal performance in-game.

This whole problem started 3 days ago, and is still continuing. I've tried everything I know including video driver roll-backs, disk and game file defragmentation and 2 clean reinstalls of the game.

My graphics card is fine, it's running at high 40s idle and around 60-75 degrees Celsius depending on the game on full load. It's slightly overclocked, at 880 core and 1280 mem from 850 core and 1200 mem (stock). Ran ATi Tool for a couple of hours, and no artifacts were found with those settings.

My specs are:

OS: Windows XP Professional 32bit, Service Pack 2.
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E6500 @ 2.93GHz
Motherboard: Intel? Desktop Board DG35EC
RAM: 2GB DDR2 800MHz PC6400 RAM
Video Card: XFX Radeon 5770 1GB GDDR5
Power Supply: Ultra LSP 750W
HDDs: 250GB IDE + 500GB SATA 2
Cayalyst Version: 11.3

Yes, I'm aware that my motherboard, RAM and CPU are quite old and oudated. The dual core isn't really fit for playing BC2, but it worked before this started to happen.

With those specs, I play at a resolution of 1440x900 at the absolute lowest graphical settings and sound settings on DirectX9, along with some 'performance' tweaks (lowering Catalyst A.I, mipmap details and more).

I don't know what happened, as I don't remember installing anything new in the past couple of days. I usually get an average of at least 29 framerate to the 30's in heavy action on 32 man servers, but lately it's been much less than that (21 frame-rate and lower, after a couple of minutes in-game, regardless of player-count). It has never done this before.

Lastly, my 250GB is partitioned into C:\ and D:\.

C:\ has 7.23GB out of 40GB left (where the WINDOWS files, My Documents and such are at) and D:\ has 161GB out of 193GB.

H:\ is my 500GB HDD, where I put all my games and other files I use because it's faster than IDE. It has 236GB left.

P.S. I hope to have this fixed before I get my new PC in a couple of weeks, which I will be the following parts (video card comes in the future, also upgrading to Windows 7):

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-870A-UD3
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws, 4GB DDR3

First off, if you dont have an Anti virus DL this and scan,

If you havnt yet run a full system scan.

Second, In case a video card update was put in with a recent OS update you can always try using an older driver for the video card. Also have you checked for any new updates to the MoBo Bios.

When was the last time yo defraged the HDD's of your computer?

Are you running IE as your main browser? or Windows Media Player at all?

As well when was the last time you manually updated PB for BC2?

Now, i don't have BC2, but the only things i can come to think of is that a new patch may have cause some issues, it might be a virus or something alike(Malware, etc.), or it might just be that some of your system parts are failing(Though i highly doubt that if other games work fine).
Most likely, a patch or something, but MAYBE some settings for your graphics card decided to change something for ONLY BC2 which drops the framerate for it.
I'd recommend a scan with Malwarebytes and your favorite anti-virus, other than that, i really have no idea considering i don't even have the game.

Currently downloading and scanning (already have second link though).

11.3 is the old version I was using when it worked. I've tried 11.4, 11.5 and 11.5a to no avail.

Last time I defragged all my HDDs were last night, with SmartDefrag. I use Firefox 4 as my main browser.

I haven't checked for any bios update yet.

There hasn't been a recent patch for the game (I don't remember when the last patch was released, it was a while ago). Also, my overclocked settings are fine. Haven't had any problems and I've been using it for a while.

I'm scanning right now with Malware Bytes however.

Ok and the last thing that comes to mind, Are you running IE as your main browser? or Windows Media Player at all?

Media player will eat up resources unless they have patched that, why I had to kill the program. IE7 or 8 was eating them like mad as well. Other than those two is there any other that are chewin on resources while playing?

No and no.

I use Winamp to play my music, and I only have Ventrilo, Steam and Winamp when I'm playing BC2 (along with other processes such as my display driver and msi afterburner)

Ok so youve actually disabled the programs at a OS level then just so Im clear?

I have other processes up, but those are the programs I usually have up.

Not sure what you mean by the OS level thing though

EDIT: 0 items found with MalwareBytes..

sorry with win xp you wouldnt have to worry about that, There was a library updating issue for WMP12 but that only Win 7 users. Good luck with the issue... Hope it isnt something you have to live with.

Move all your crap to your 500 gb harddrive and reinstall xp. You got more than enough space to do so. Probably overdue for a reformat anyways. I reformat my harddrive every 6 months lol.
