If you use skype, check to see if you have a program called EasyBits GO installed. Appears to be malware installed by skype without user permission.

EasyBits is a real company who has ran some of the skype extras such as games for years, but this appears to be malware "impersonating" the real thing.

A skype mod states it IS malware in this thread

Just a heads up.

EDIT: Note I said APPEARS. Nobody knows for sure yet if it is as Skype has not OFFICIALLY commented yet, but it sure is suspicious.

That is really ironic.

I saw something called EasyBits on my laptop, and I know that I haven't installed anything new on my computer recently so I just went to my Control Panel and removed it.

I just removed it, and then came onto the forums.

Was that the right or wrong thing to do? Lol.

That was the right thing to do, however, that doesn't completely get rid of it. There will still be traces left in the registry, program data folder, and appdata folder that you might want to delete.

After doing all of the above, I ran a malwarebytes full scan, a spybot S&D full scan, and an Avast! full scan. All of them came up clean. Other people reported that after they removed it and scanner they came up with 4-7 viruses, but I have to conclude their PCs were already infected.

Still no official comment from Skype yet, which is worrisome.

inb4 microsoft owning Skype now ;)

How do you know if it's malware or not? Has this peticular program done anything, or have you had any recent problems?

Actually the deal isn't finalized, so MSFT has nothing to do with it.

I do not know if it actually is. Regardless, I do not take kindly to any program that installs itself, even after I tell it not to install.
