I broke 3 fingers today.. they just happened to be my WAD keys.. I am so dedicated that I played hurt (lol). But it got me thinking.. This could be an interesting thread.

Have you ever broken a bone that prevented you from playing? Fingers? Wrists? Arms? lemme know :D

Never broken a bone... but I did cut the tip off my thumb once, and couldn't play until the stitches came out.

Im just curious, if you say that you broke 3 fingers that you use for the wad keys, then what finger do you use for the s key? For me (& most others) I use the same key for w as I do for s, but thats just me. Not trying to be sarcastic or smartass, or more of curiousity got to me. You may have accidently forgotten that key, which is understandable.

in 7th grade i snapped my radius and ulna of my right arm and i couldnt hold a playstation controller so i had to lay the controller down on something and press x square triangle and o like the arrow keys on a keyboard instead of using my thumb

Broke my wrist, and collar bone at separate times. Didn't really affect my ability to play :p

Ya I do to, but when thinking of the idea, i looked at my fingers and they were on WAD :]

I got 2 for ya

Before I got into PC gaming, I broke the 5th metacarpal (bone just below the pinky) in my right hand. Did it playing baseball. I was at bat, I swung and hit the ball with my hand hard enough to return it to the pitcher. X-rays where funny to look at, bone was pushed down, if was down further, i would've had pins put in. I found it hard to play Guitar Hero after that.

This one doesn't really count as a break. I started playing high school football shortly after getting into PC gaming. my second year of football I sprained the MCL of my left knee. Along with some meniscus in the same knee. So sitting at the computer was a little uncomfortable and numbed my gaming ability.

the worst is when you screw up your index finger on your right hand

braced against middle finger

hard to use a mouse with taped fingers

I type/game with my feet, so when I broke my knee I couldnt do much of anything =\

when i broke my arm the first time

the school nurse had one thing to say about it

that i must have a high threshold for pain because shed have kids come in with sprains who were bawling

i came in with a 40 degree angle between my elbow and wrist and didnt even whimper

Some *censored* tripped me during a 100 yard dash and screwed up some tendons in my wrist, I'm not 100 percent sure if it was because I landed on my arm bending backwards or the fact that I punched the living hell out of that guys skull.

but it hurt like hell in the healing process right? thats how I am. Never had the misfortune of breaking a bone, but I've sliced myself/smashed my body and/or head pretty good.

not so much during the healing process

what hurt the most was a week after it happened we went to see a specialist or w/e

by this point the bone was already starting to mend

anywho

the [Expletive Deleted] said that the bones werent correctly reduced (put back into position) at the hospital

so he would have to correct it or it wouldnt mend properly

so my mom asks

"are you going to give him anything for the pain?"

his response was

well i dont give pain medication because the reduction is over before the drugs even kick in

remember how i said earlier that the bone had already begun mending?

i knew that it had because he had told me that 5 minutes before he explained what reducing was (even though my arm had been reduced a week before i had no idea what it was because i was passed out on morphine when they did it)

yeah he basically grabbed hold of my wrist with one hand, elbow with the other and yanked

i could feel what little repair had occured break instantly

it felt like glass had been injected into my veins

im not going to lie

i was screaming in pain, the pain was way worse that the original break

that [Explitive Deleted] should have chosen another line of medicine than pediatrics, i mean cmon, you dont just grab a kids arm and start breaking it without anything for pain

when i got home i took a double dose of the codeine that id been perscribed at the hospital

Unfortunately, that's how all hospitals "fix" a bone that hasn't healed properly.
