Gaming community Call to Arms against BF3 Pre-Order Exclusive Weapons

I am sure that if you have been keeping up to date with BF3 news then you have already heard about this but if not, then here goes.

Not to long ago it was announced that if you pre-ordered exclusively at GAME and Gamestation in the UK you would receive a bonus of the "Physical Warfare Pack"(http://www.battlefield.com/uk/battl...mited-edition-physical-warfare-pack-available) in addition to the "Back to Karkand" DLC access. This Pack gives the user "Exclusive" access to certian items/weapons that will not be available to unlock by Regular Play by those who who do not pre-order from these retailers. (Confirmation via tweet)

Currently there is a poll on EA's BF3 forums that asks people of their opinion's on this issue and atm 94% think it is a bad idea. (Link)

As for my opinion: If it is true that I will never be able to access these weapons/items in-game because I do not live in the UK, then ya I am a bit pissed as someone who aims to achieve all achievements. Will this stop me from buying or pre-ordering the game? No but it does make me think very negatively of EA to pull a stunt like this.

Various Media Coverage:

So what are you all's opinion about this issue of pre-order exclusives?

Edit: DICE Responds

http://blogs.battlefield.ea.com/bat...k-and-back-to-karkand-questions-answered.aspx

Q: Is the Physical Warfare Pack available in all regions, or just in the UK?
A: It will be available worldwide at select retailers. It was first announced in the UK. Exact details for other countries and retailers will be announced at a later date.

Q: Will Physical Warfare Pack imbalance the game?
A: The three exclusive items in the Physical Warfare Pack were specifically chosen not to be overpowered or imbalance or break the game in any way.

Q: Why do I want the Physical Warfare Pack?
A: Owning these items will give you a more varied arsenal, but it will not give you a significant advantage on the battlefield.

Q: Is the Back to Karkand expansion pack exclusive to pre-orders?
A: No. You can also buy it separately if you do not pre-order Battlefield 3. Back to Karkand will be available the exact same date after the launch of Battlefield 3 no matter if you pre-ordered or buy it separately.

Q: When will the Back to Karkand expansion pack be released?
A: We have not yet announced the Back to Karkand expansion pack release date.

Q: How much does the Back to Karkand Expansion pack cost?
A: We have not yet announced a price. However, it will be included in the Limited Edition at no extra charge.

Q: Do I have to choose between Back to Karkand and the Physical Warfare Pack as my pre-order bonus?
A: No. There is no way you can pre-order Battlefield 3: Limited Edition and not end up with the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge. On top of this, select retailers all over the world will carry the Physical Warfare Pack. Exact details for other countries and retailers will be announced at a later date.

Q: Why do you offer pre-order bonus items?
A: Because we believe in rewarding our core fanbase with special offers -- such as giving them the Back to Karkand expansion pack at no extra charge.

So it will not only be available in the UK. I am guessing that in the US the "PWP" Bonus will be available through Gamestop and/or Best Buy. Also those who have already pre-ordered have no way of getting the "PWP" unless they cancel and re-pre-order once the specified retailer is announced. GG EA.

I already had it on preorder well before this was announced. If the weapons are ingame and only give a temporary head start, i wont care. If these weapons are only unlocked with a regional offer it is a bit of a slap to the face IMHO.

But honestly I'm okay with it as long as it isn't OP. I'm most likely gonna preorder through Steam, anyway.

There are "rumors" that it may not be up for pre-order on steam because EA is trying to promote their own Gaming Hub "Origin" (Info) which is competing against steam. :facewall:

How can people say this will make the game unbalanced when they havent even played it yet or know nothing of the guns stats??

I smell marketing ploy... and if it remains the same who cares I will let my skills do the talking.

:O......

EA Games already has a catalog on Steam! What a dumb idea. Oh well, I'll keep my ears open and hope for the best (at least until it seems like they won't regardless).

I don't like the idea but i'll pre-order anyway...

Better be worth it though... It's exactly like saying... Pre-order or no BF3 beta... WHOOPS Open Beta for all! :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

I wont buy that game using the Origin thing... because every time I try to get the game from the EA store it just send me to Spain site... and I WONT PAY 60 Euros on that thing.... NO WAY!

lol....... no hablo espanol?

I find it ridiculous. They did the same thing with weapons in MoH. If you wanted to have access to every weapon in the game you needed to place a pre-order with Steam, Gamestop, and EA since all three offered separate exclusive weapons. Veteran weapons are one thing but no possible way to get your hands on all weapons after the game is out is just plain stupid.

I already pre-ordered BF3 through Best Buy. I know others will most likely go through Steam.

Sad part I did not like that people who do not Pre-Order BF3 will get a free copy of Back to Karkand while others who don't will have to pay (only if it turns out to be free I really don't care then)

Any bonus offers people get through pre-ordering IDC. People will play BF3 their way and I am going to be one of them on our BF3 servers. Enough said.

I pre-ordered a while back before any of this came up. I just want to get the damn game and start playing!
