Vancouver Rioting

To be honest the way vancouver is acting is pathetic, for anyone who lives in vancouver im sorry, i live from the island and i personally think that they are giving B,C and canada a bad name..

Idiots like those are the reason why Vancouver didn't deserve to win.

Yeah, they'd be rioting win or lose.

it was a great series. but the fans of in V.C needed to chill out. its a game and there will be other chances!

I'm loling so much at the car that's on fire.

EDIT: OMG there's a guy on a traffic light. xD

I have been a canucks fan all my life, and I knew this would happen if they lost. It happened in 94' its become a sad tradition.

Why would they destroy the city? They should start a riot at the players!

This video sums it up pretty well.......

It was a great series. I was cheering for the Canucks since the start because I can't stand the Habs and they were the only other Canadian team in the playoffs. Credit needs to be given to the Canucks and their fans for a wonderful and stellar year which began with the Olympics. After the loss there were pockets of violence erupting and most people were just standing around taking it all in. Most of the fighting it seems were people trying to stop punks from stirring things up. While most of the looting and vandalism including turning over(burning) vehicles were not from true hockey fans, but a group of intoxicated idiots that were going out there to do what they did regardless of the final score, I am ashamed to call myself Canadian. I am disgusted with the approach and manner in which Vancouver citizens behaved and the lack of intervention from true hockey and Canadian fans. To sit there and take pictures and videos of the violence, looting and destruction perpetuates these senseless acts even more. They had great power in mass numbers alone to subdue these randoms acts and did nothing other then get nice snapshots and YouTube material. No Canadian pride when I woke up this morning that's for sure.

The people rioting are NOT true Vancouver Canucks fans or Vancouverites.

These riots are NOT taking place because people are mad about the Canucks losing.

The people who did this are the same 'professional anarchists' who wore masks and vandalized during the Winter Olympics. They look for any excuse to cause havoc.

Did you know that the ENTIRE CITY is almost already completely cleaned up? Thousands of true citizens went downtown early this morning and just, well, cleaned up.

I don't pay much attention to hockey. In fact I pretty much hate the whole sport, so you can imagine that the time period of 7 games people were getting on my nerves. I live in New England (Maine to be exact) and all I heard was "Bruins this" and "Bruins that." The thing that really got on my nerves was that no one really talked about the Bruins until they started winning. Most of the people I come across are this way about professional sports. They only like a team if they're winning.

Recently it was all about the Boston Celtics, then they lost and it was "Celtics? who the hell are they?" And it was the same way with the Bruins, until they started winning. And come fall, when football starts, it will be the very same way with the New England Patriots.

Just my rant on the whole thing, and my two cents on how people some, if not most people are around where I live.

I'm embarrassed to be a Vancouverite today. I'm disappointed but not surprised by last nights actions. I'd just like to say that the vast majority of my city is disgusted by the actions of these hooligans last night.

I am also confident that most of these thugs will be brought to justice for their crimes. There is a staggering amount of video footage from last night. News footage, police cameras and also private citizens turning in copies of their videos. These individuals will be identified, arrested and charged.

There WERE people who tried to intervene. One man was beaten by 10 rioters while trying to stop them from breaking into a Sears department store.

As Captain Canuck said, I am also confident that many of those who took part in the rioting and looting will be brought to justice. With the amount of bystanders recording footage on their phones and cameras, the Vancouver Police Department have setup a couple of e-mail addresses for people to submit their videos in an attempt to identify people.

Ugh.

I'd been following and pulling for the Canucks all season long, and what a horrible end to an otherwise great series.

Kind of reminds me of the Oilers during their '06 run, where I was actually in Edmonton. Only, we didn't exactly riot when they lost and the city just went dead silent for the rest of the night.

The truest fans weren't the ones in the streets, just remember that.
