Now I finally know what it feels like to have spent money on a game that went free to play...it's a strange feeling that I don't know how to describe.

Good thing I really bought the Orange Box for Portal lol.

Arghh, I think I'm the only one who doesn't like F2P games. Just think; look at good games like Combat Arms. That would be pretty good, if there wasn't a hacker on every. single. server.

Valve said they're going to keep 'a close eye out' for these types of people (avoiding bans via more accounts), but I kind of doubt that. VAC isn't bulletproof, unless they give it an uber-heart :P

My thoughts exactly. I loved combat arms, but when the hackers took over, I stopped playing. Valve made their game free and plan to have protection against people trying to make new accounts to go around bans, but I honestly doubt that system will be hard to go around.

i feel this is great and horrible news at the same time prepare to hand out ban hammers and people making new accounts just to give people a hard time.

This not making me happy. I wasted $20 now knowing a game going free to play. I mean now there is going to be more hackers etc.

Actually, you didn't waste 20 $ since the game since it's free to play now has limitations for people who didn't buy the game and plays it for free. Like a only 50 slot backpack. Also, no cosmetic items like HATS !!!!!! and also they cannot trade their items they can only receive items from other players. So no, you didn't waste your money.

Anyways, I've been playing TF2 since 2007 and trust me it's worth every penny for all the effort that Valve done to the game. And now they make so much money over the store, that it was only the right decision to release it for free.

Props Valve, you've outdone yourself yet again.

Ive always like valve but truthfully since they released hats its been going down for me. I still love it but the same feeling isnt there anymore for me, sure its great we can all play now...

Its just a game for little kids to go a customise their character.

I feel similarly -- except for that last bit.

All the limitations that are on a free account make no difference to me. I only have like 10 items, I dont care for hats, I just play the game and dont worry about the other aspects of it, so for me its like a waste of $20. And all people have to do to become "Premium" is buy anything off the mann co store, so for way cheaper, people can be the same as us.

Guys honestly all this complaining about the game going free to play seems to boil down to "I spent $20 why can't we make them spend $20?" I spent $50 on Bad Company 2. Am I mad that people now can buy it for $20? No because I like the game and I've gotten my money's worth out of it. Also I got TF2 for $5 on sale. Are you gonna rage at me? No you won't. If you like the game why does it matter? You'll have more people to play with. The game you like to play will be more popular. The only people who I would consider have a right to rage about wasting $20 are people who bought the game and don't like it. If you like TF2 then it going Free To Play while there are a lot of scary unknowns about the future shouldn't make you mad unless you bought the game within the past week.

pretty disappointed that they decided to make it free to play forever... hopefully us who have paid for the game will get something out of this (doubt we will get cash back). My guess is that it will be something along the lines of "get x amount of free item(s) of your choosing from the in-game store"

I personally dont care that I spent full price on the game. I joined eGO through friends who were playing TF2 lol
