Instead of making a bunch of threads asking if something is worth it, why not ask here, where we can keep it all archived in one organized thread!
The point of this thread is to make an easily accessible place to find reviews on something you are considering buying, so you can find out if it's actually worth the price tag! This will hopefully help avoid any other threads asking the same question...

Is It Worth It?

We're going to try to strictly keep this thread about anything gaming (unless otherwise specified). Feel free to ask about any games, downloadable content, headsets, etc. If I have not personally been able to try out something you are questioning on buying, I will tell you, and either -
A) Try my hardest to quickly try it out to be able to provide information as soon as possible.
B) Accept private messages with factual reviews on the request [In which of course, multiple reviews would be necessary or it would be biased]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Rules*
-Try to keep your request down to one at a time

-I will try to get to your request as soon as possible, so please do not post a request more than once

-Keep requests clean [Of course, all eGO rules apply here]

-Do not get off topic, this is designed to be a thread specifically for reviews on anything [game related] in question

-Stick to the idea of 'Is It Worth it?', do not just post pointless requests if you are not actually considering purchasing it

-Please avoid responding to users request yourself. You can either send them a private message on a review, or send me one to use when I make the actual review. Please keep all space for requests

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what are you waiting for?! Post your requests below! Don't just blow your money on something if you are skeptical on whether or not it's worth it! :cool:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Review Scores:
All requests will be scored on a point system. The lowest being a '1' and the highest being a perfect '10'. Scores may also include decimals if need be [.5]
Anything with a score 7 or above is recommended to anyone interested in the request.

Bronze = [7.0 - 7.5]
Silver = [8.0 - 8.5]
Gold = [9.0 - 9.5]
Platinum = [10 - 10]

-Reviews that score below a '7.0', will be in regular font in the archive below.
-Reviews that score a Bronze, will be italicized in the archive below.
-Reviews that score a Silver, will be underlined in the archive below.
-Reviews that score a Gold, will be italicized and underlined in the archive below.
-Reviews that score a Platinum, will be bolded in the archive below.

[All requests will be archived below, for easy access to previous reviews]
Check below to see if something has already been reviewed before you request it

Title: EVE Online
Year: 2003
Publisher: CCP Games
Genre: Sci-Fi [MMORPG]
Retail Price: $29.99
Pay Type: Subscription [$14.95/monthly]
System Requirements: Windows/Mac/Linux
Review: EVE Online is a space exploration MMORPG, where players command their ships in a huge universal sandbox. The game strives on strong player-run corporations [Which can be though of like a 'Clan' feature]. This feature allows players to group together and tackle this massive game together. Since initial released, the guys at CCP Games have released 15 small expansions, free of charge for subscribers (Including one, Incarna, released less than a month ago). Players can fight, mine, train skills, and build their own ships in this Sci-Fi RPG, while engaging in the thriving, complex economy. Don't expect to become an expert at EVE as soon as you start playing though, as this game can take literally MONTHS to get anywhere in the game. Once you do finally start making a name for yourself in this massive world, you'll start realizing how tedious your space life becomes. Often times, you'll find yourself forcing yourself to login just to train your skills [Which can take hours, as training your skills just involves waiting 'X' amount of time until your skill is trained], as well as mine astroids to earn yourself some money. If you think you are interested in the game, I would highly suggest trying the 14-day free trial, or pay for one month to see if it's for you or not, but beware, EVE takes a massive amount of time devotion in order to be successful in game.

Is EVE worth it?

Depends on what game type you like, EVE is extremely hard getting into and the market structure is very complex, as soon as you get into the game alot of fun hours are to be had, but it takes a lot to learn and a lot of patience.

Title: Sid Meier's Civilization V
Year: 2010
Developer: Firaxis Games
Genre: Strategy
Retail Price: $49.99
System Requirements: Windows/Mac
Review: Sid Meier's Civilization V is, of course, the fifth installment of the Civilization franchise. It's a turn based strategy game, where each player takes the roll of overseer of a certain developing ethnic group ('Civilization'). You can pick whether to play in prehistoric times without technology, all the way up to a futuristic setting, where technology they hasn't even been discovered yet appears in your generated world. The great thing about Civilization is the amount of detail when it comes to setting up your games. You can make everything exactly how you want, which overall makes the whole game prosper. There's plenty of stock ethnic groups that come with the game to choose from (but if that isn't enough, you can even buy more downloadable civilizations to use in game). The bad thing about the game is it does take a fair amount of time to play a single game, even playing on the quickest setting. Another thing would be, it does feel just a revamped version of the previous Civilization games, so don't expect much more than the previous games of the series, other than more ethnic groups to choose from, more settings, and some revamped graphics, as well as a better multiplayer experience. The game is a great pick if it's your type of genre, if you have never played a Civilization game. If you do, however, own a previous Civilization game, you may want to think twice before purchasing the fifth installment (at least until the price goes down, or there's a nice deal).

EVE Online is a game that can't be simply reviewed.
Why? It's a sandbox. Yes, a sandbox, but not garry's mod style sandbox. It's a sandbox in where the interaction with the game content is not the topic. Instead, interaction with players is completely free. Yes, free, you can do what you want.
Feel like scamming? Go and do it. Feel like griefing? If you're capable of, go and do it.

Such a strange enviroment causes players to either love or hate the game, that's it, you love it or you hate it. I love it, and if it weren't because it's kinda hard for me to pay for it, I would be playing.
My suggestion: try it, it's the only way you can know for sure. You'll need some guidance at the start, but attempt to do stuff on your own, even if you don't know what you're doing, try it.

Thanks for responding, but try to avoid posting your response on the actual thread...

Otherwise, thanks for responding ^^
Do you have any requests yourself?

Hmm sorry, but if it's only you doing the requests it would be kinda... slow, and might want to have opinions from different people.

No requests myself.

That would be fine I guess. Wasn't what I was originally planning, but if you guys think that would be better, then be my guest :P

If it doesn't involve the community then it shouldn't be "Official", it should just be "FREESTYLE's review thread.

EVE Online is a great game, we have a corp so you'll be playing with people you know (mostly), the market and game mechanics are complex sure, but once you get even the basic handling on how things are supposed to run, and what works with your ship and what doesn't; you'll find this game to be quite relaxing.

What does it make a difference lol? It says *Official* to avoid making threads over the same subject. It's to help free the community forums from clutter, and it makes an organized place to help with game choices.
Does anyone else have any other requests?

You're not getting my point, before you were attempting to deny all other opinions and replace them with your own as official.

Show me where I "denied" them?
I was trying to save room on the first couple posts for reviews on the first page, sure! That's not denying. I assured them they can PM me their reviews, and I'd be sure to include them in my review with the certain game. Now they can actually post on the thread. I was not stating my opinion was "official", I was merely stating this thread SHOULD be the official thread for types of topics like this. That way we can actually keep them in order, rather than have multiple threads scattered everywhere. Sorry you misunderstood what I was trying to get across.
