Hi Tech folks!

Getting this in about 2-3 weeks.

Anybody have this right now? or the Galaxy S? How do you like it?

It's Andriod 2.3 Gingerbread. Good experience?

Any must-have apps you'd recommend?

I'm excited! :w00t:

So I did some research into the sequel of the Galaxy S2 (aka Galaxy S II). Seems like an interesting phone. Im currently using the original Galaxy S on the Sprint network. I will say that the cpu has slowed down a lil, but not enough to complain. However, my only complaint is with the Pandora software (which I have been meaning to email them about). Other than that, the original phone is solid. I like the fact that Samsung is imitating the iPhone4 in slimness (according to the wiki site, the Galaxy S2 is the 2nd slimmest phone, next to some NEC phone, which was only released in Japan). So this upcoming sequel is slimmer and faster than the iPhone4. I still forsee people going after the iPhone4 just to be apart of the "in" crowd, which is still so stupid.

What I find interesting is that theres more free apps now in the Android market than there is in the Apple store (the following article will tell more): http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/shocker-free-android-apps-outnumber-free-iphone-apps/ However theres no new info as to what the latest findings are on available apps, but oh well.

Sorry, forgot to talk bout apps. All Angry Birds games are a MUST. Theyre all free (in case you didnt know). I would say that the latest, Rio, is the most challenging. Oddly enough, your Galaxy S2 phone should come pre-installed with alot of apps, which you will more than likely be surprised by (I def was). I got the Weather Channel app, which works nicely. I found this real fun game (originally on iPhone/iPod Touch called Ninja Fruit or something like that) but could only get the trial version. Well Android market has a similar version called Fruit Slice, which is full game, not trial, for free. Also new recent app that just came out which may interest you is called RedLaser. It scans the bar code at your grocery store & searches online to find out if the price on the shelf is really the correct price. Neat lil app, also free. Should get ya started anyways. Let me know if theres some other apps that you find that looks fun to use & try that I didnt mention.

I was in Germany a week ago, so I got to play with one a bit.

Pretty much the same as the original, but better.

I don't have a Galaxy S or SII, but I have a Droid X. So I can suggest some apps (: All the apps I suggest are free.
-Barcode Scanner (Scans bar codes and checks the prices of w/e you scanned online as well as showing you the website of the product. Haven't tried it with food, just headphones and what not. So not sure if you should get Redlaser too like pillar suggested)
-Battery Solo Widget (It's more or less just a gauge that tells you how much battery power you have with a number and a graphical representation. I find it easier than the little thing at the top)
-Battle.net Mobile Authenticator (I use it for WoW and SC2)
-Flashlight (Uses your LED light from your camera as a flashlight)
-Glow Hockey (Air hockey just everything glows, not the BEST game, but it's fun to play when waiting for your GF or w/e to get out of the bathroom)
-Lightning Bug (It just plays background noise, like water crashing against rocks at a beach, or rain and lightning. It's pretty neat. I use it when I sleep sometimes.)
-IMDb (REALLY useful)
-Stupid Zombies (Pretty fun game. Object is to kill all the zombies using only X amount of bullets. The bullets bounce off walls and what not.)
-Speed Test (App from www.speedtest.net. I've used it to test what kind of speeds I get in different locations. I live in a town far away from a Verizon tower)

I have the Galaxy S 4G from Tmobile and it is great.
After you get your new phone, consider rooting it so that you can download free/paid apps exclusive to rooted androids. It's like jailbreak.

[ROOTING PHONES ISNT ILLEGAL, BUT IT VOIDS WARRANTY]

If you do root your phone, go download SetCpu (paid, unless you go to a dev. website). It allows you to overclock your phone if you need more power.
Titanium Backup - Backup app/game data, freeze app or game status.
ROM Manager- Allows you to DL custom ROMS and manage them , comes with Barcode Scanner I think.
Wireless Tether - Tether your phone to your laptop, computer via Wi Fi or 4G :)

Thanks guys!

I'm also wondering - how easy is it to integrate the phone with your computer?

Does it come with easy to use software so you can drag and drop songs/apps similar to iTunes?

It took me a short time to integrate my phone but I learned that its very easy. When you connect your USB choose Mass Storage, but you need to also download the latest drivers for your phone.

The Galaxy S2 is the phone I'm currently after. I'd love to be able to afford to upgrade, it's a lovely phone.

Been waiting on this phone for the past few months. Cant wait for it to release for AT&T. Im dumping my blackberry for this phone and have been waiting month after month of pushback dates. Hopefully Samsungs statement about an August US release will be a reality.

I was extremely surprised when they released it in Canada.

Usually Canada is the last in terms of when technology gets released. Especially in comparison to the States.

I'm considering whether to delay my buy until September when I go to Vegas...
