Okay so I've been playing on the Instant respawn server and I notice that there has been a steady increase in skill with the sniper class. First of all, how do you guys do it?! I end up getting dominated every single time! :chair: :facewall:
I've been playing TF2 for a long time but I'm still not good at it...any tips for Sniping? Or even for any other classes for that matter?
Any advice would be nice :)

1. Always aim for the head. It insta-kills 5 classes without overheals and no charge. I usually bodyshot Scouts if their too fast.

2. Move around. It makes other Snipers hard to aim at you.

3. Be quick. If you hit first, it makes LOLs happen.

4. Don't always stay in one area. Other snipers will know where to look if you kill them.

5. If you need to hide, hide in areas where its not obvious to look. Don't stand in the middle of nowhere and get your charge up.

That's all you nee to know! Good luck bruhhh.

Mik basically said everything needed to say.
Good luck and if you still need help add me.

Yeah it helps to be able to lead and work on shooting while moving.. TF2 is one of the few games where it doesnt penalize the shooters accuracy while moving.

If you don't always have the best aim (like me) you should first practice with the Sydney Sleeper.

Duck or Jump just after shooting to avoid getting shot in return fire

as a side note im kinda a crazy sniper, close quarters sniper ftw

as far as the instant server goes, try owning a zone first. Smaller is better to start with; when you thoroughly control a zone (like the left spawn corner), start to slowly extend your zone of control. Sometimes you'll have the whole top balcony to yourself, sometimes you'll just have to settle for barely peeking your head out at an entrance. Moving left and right and crouching repeatedly also makes you a difficult target for headshots snice your head moves horizontally AND vertically.

Go to Advanced Options and turn off auto-scope, which does so after you have shot your sniper you automatically go to zoom again, when turned off you will be able to move at the fast speed whenever you have done a shot, it is a great countermeasure against other snipers, try do fast zoom headshots against enemy snipers.

When there is no enemy snipers then go for a bigger view, the more you can see the more danger they will get you while you look away, always check all the areas that snipers tend to go.

I got a 25 kill streak recently on the eGO fast respawn server, I miss a hell lot, not gonna complain about lagg as it's my own fault for playing on US. servers xD

Notice how that almost every time I take a hit I either go heal or go into cover and go out of cover again pretty fast to finish my opponent off.

Onigami's Tips for sniping!

1. Always stay on the move. Steadier you are. Easier u are to shoot.

2. Learn the flick. (Flicking your mouse fast while maintaing accurucy)

3. Change your places. Staying in one place makes where spies know where you are.

4. Be like me:) I have no problem with snipers. Just spies. I can take 1 on 1 and win with any sniper. But spies are the problem. SO this brings me to WEAR RAZORBACK..

5. LOOK FOR EASY TARGETS. (Such as heavys and medics, when there is no snipers on the other team)

I have many more tips...but i dont wanna share all my secrets with u theives!

Goodluck out there. See you around.

If you want to watch a pro sniper do his work, come on Valve Maps and spectate Out Kold <<+>>. He's the best sniper I've ever seen, and he'd probably be happy to let you know how he got so good. The guy even knows 100% sniper servers that are made just to learn how to snipe.

theres no pub named Out Kold, this is simply a "FILL VALVE MAPS" post in disguise.

dont hang out in the corners, be unpredictable and dodgy.. if you know a sniper is waiting for you move somewhere else as quickly as you can... make them poke thier heads out. also if you have a huntsman give it a try, i do very well with it and annoy the scouts running over bridge

Thanks everyone! I've used most of the techniques listed and it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY! My new favorite Sniper weapon is the original Sniper Rifle because headshots are slowly becoming easier and easier to come by. Now...I wanna duel all you guys >:D haha practice makes perfect yeah?

No way I could tell you were a new sniper Jeffrey. Was playing against you last night as "Hypertext Preprocessor" and you were doing awesome!

Thing that helps me out the most is to wait until I see someone zoom in and either move quickly to a side out of their crosshairs and take a quick shot, or wait a split second till after they shoot and zoom in before they start moving and try to headshot them. I only zoom in and charge up if no one is visiable and wait to hit people jumping off the battlements, but other than that always keep moving and always check the corners.

Red snipers have a huge advantage because they blend in well with the shadows both on the sniper deck and below, so when you are blue try to stay further to the right to avoid getting sniped by a cornoer sniper hiding in the shadows. Also between shots look at the walls around you and look for dots. Usually depending on where the dot is you can tell if someone is corner sniping and run in and quick shot them before they even know what hit them. This can get you accused of hacking because most people don't even think to look for dots.

Also the machette is your best friend! It has a high crit chance so don't be afraid to drop down off the sniper deck and chase someone in the front door and stab them in the back. Same goes for scouts, when you see them trying to jump up, try to move the the edge of the deck so you 1. block their jump and make them fall, and 2. swing at them and try to kill them in mid air.

When you see someone coming across the bridge you either want to stop or you kow they are going to jump up to get you, go stand behind a wall and charge the sniper rifle looking at the exit of the bridge. Point the crosshair over the water so they don't see the dot, then when they run past pop them in the head. I especially love doing this to heavies with medics, they don't expect it and it leaves the medic a sitting duck mid-bridge.

Another thing that helps me is to display the damage done. There's an option in the settings, so if you hit a sniper and know he's really low, but continues to snipe, jsut run out there and try to no-scope body shot him.

Lastly, if there's a sniper better than you on the server, SNIPE! The only way you will get better is to play people better than you, try to learn their movements and techniques and both counter and mimic them. You can't get better without playing better.

Good luck and hope to see you on the server!

Oh I forgot 1 more important tactic! (I'm sure there's more as well)
When you see someone is doing a lot of corner sniping, you can corner snipe as well. Though charge up and wait for them to come peaking out. You can aim for their arm as they are coming out from around the corner and score a 1 shot body shot kill on them before they even see you. Most the times they are trying to hit you on the head so even if they see your arm they aren't going to shoot yet because it wont be a kill shot unless they are charged.
