Long story short, I work at an auto repair shop and day after day I have to deal with the retarded general public and their cars. Our shop opens at 8:00am and we do all the basic repairs on pretty much everything. No, this isn't an add for my shop...this is a rant about all the **** I have to deal with, and how difficult it is for my to bite my tongue on these occasions!
Let this be a warning for you the next time you bring your car in to have it serviced, everything will go smoothly for both parties if you're not like this guy...
SO...that being said...enter customer Steve! Steve decided to show up today at 11:45am (unannounced and without an appointment) to have repairs done on his BEAUTIFUL....STUNNING piece of human engineering....his 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager V6 (...a slight purplish color with OVER 200k miles). According to Steve, he hit something while on the freeway and now his POS van has it's check engine light on. The next words out of his mouth are...
Steve: "Can you do it today? If so can I have it back by 2:00pm (keep in mind, he showed up at 11:45), and how much is it going to be because I might need you to carry me for a few weeks, I might not have all the money!"
Lets review:
Showing up unannounced and with no Appointment.....Check
Showing up at lunch when no one is available......Check
Giving us a 2 hour time window so we can fit into HIS schedule.....Check
Not having the money to pay for it in the first place.......Check
Wanting us to carry him for 3 weeks until he gets the money......Check
.....and he wants us to stop what we're doing and cater to him right that second because he doesn't have a ride.....all within 2 hours and he can't be late because he has "stuff" to do...
I'll be straight up with you people....we're NOT going to pull a $1159 timing belt job, a $565 hub bearing job, and a $975 a/c job just so we can take a "quick look" at your beater car!
Don't like if, fine, I don't give 2 ****'s about your schedule....go take it to EZ-Lube or the Dealer...and when they rob you blind, don't come crawling back to us! :cursing:
...and the worst part is, this happens at LEAST 2 times a day  lol
People are never on time...they think they're the center of the universe...and they need their stuff done yesterday...
Anyone else care to share a story about a time they worked with the general public and had to deal with frustrating people?!
