After months of being a turd, and a change in my career, the new rig is in the works. Here we go......

The Old Republic doesn't require a 580 to play, or a case of redbull :P
 
Are you gonna cool it with redbull and vodka? pretty sure that stuffs extremely corrosive
 
Juicy juice and erm the motherboard and cpu dont go together (which also means that unless its dual channel RAM, then those wont work either) and that case is MEH at best
 
Get blocks yourself and put them on. Save yourself a good $250 all while getting better performing blocks.

As the other guy said, 12gb? Stick with 8 for now.

Oh, the problem is your mobo will not support that cpu. That mobo takes one of the old i7 9xx.

Case wise, 1200 for water cooling? Why? You plan on doing this internal? Obsidian, haf x or 932, or xigmatek elysium are better designed for internal water cooling.

Also, feel free to list your wc gear at some point. Would like to see what you are looking at relative to what I have been for my next build.

Just noticed I put the wrong CPU. I had 2 builds going. I'll fix it soon. It one of the good Asus ones I believe.

You're motherboard, the EVGA 131-GT-E767-TR LGA1366/ Intel X58 mobo, supports 1366 Sockets CPU's.... You're i7 2600k is a 1155 socket. SO

Also, take note that they both have 2 3.0 x16 PCI-E slots. You're videocards can be put into those slots without a problem. likewise with new videocards coming out using the PCI-E 3.0 slot can also be put in a 1.0 x16 PCI-E slot (there would be bottleneck though).

**My personal opinion is wait until the end of October to decide on a CPU**
Reasoning : October we will see the release of AMD's Octo Core Bulldozer processors. What does that have to do with Intel? Well for one a minor price drop in their CPU's and they will most likely mention when they are releasing their line of Octo Core processors.

Of course the choice is always yours.

As for cases that involve INTERNAL water cooling. What i mean by that is having the pump and reservoir located inside the case i would recommend these.

^ there is also a newer 942 version of this case.
My friend has this computer and we installed an internal water cooling system in his compputer and i have to say it is perfect for cable management and water cooling.

We didnt run the pipes out the back either. We simply mounted the radiator on the top of the case and the resevoir on the beam running straight down by the drive bays.

Also this case has a quarter of an inch or so on the non window side of the case to hide all your cables without a problem. So if you want to hide all of your cables and not have anyone seeing them this is a really great case

**Water Cooling Note**
Honestly you dont need anything more than a double radiator for cooling only the CPU. and it fits perefect at the top of your case if you go with a 932.
Also for tubing get the biggest ID (inner diamater) you can. It really makes a difference.

Make sure to bleed the system first before you test it inside the computer. Leaks are very important obviously. And if you dont want to buy the "required" fluid. Distilled water works perfectly fine. just always check for mold. really not a big deal and my friend and i have been using Distilled water for a little over a year and a half and no troubles.

The 1200 is a very meh case if we're being generous. Compared to the Phantom, Raven, HAF 932, and the HAF-X just above price point the 1200 is no good.

XO, if you're dropping that much cash on water cooling, you might want to consider Mountain Mods or Case Labs. There is literally nothing as good. Though if you want cheaper (understandable) the Corsair 650D and 800D are excellent for water coolers as well.

And as stated, BF3 isn't forcing anybody to get water-cooled SLI-580s.

EDIT: Oh, and you want to go socket 1155. You just do.
 
if your definition of doom involves a processor not fitting in a motherboard, than yea, that rig looks pretty Doom-ish

If this were possible....all of my money!:drool: I would have a red/blue case with Hawaiian Punch going down the side. Along with the main cooling component, it will have a small tank somewhere that will hold a bit of the drink for myself....cooled by water :P All it takes will be one leak.....:crying:
 
Fixed the Mobo issue.


I chose this case, because a friend of mine has a beast and I am basically (almost) copying his build. This was his case. He will help me put it together and knows the tweaks needed to be made with this case. (like most builds, not every case wants to seat everything perfectly). The wc is all new to me so I am def looking for ideas on that.

I originally wanted to spend around $2000. I am in need of a new rig, and didn't want to build a "get me by" rig, hence the large price range. Basically, I will probably build a close to $3000 rig. So let's have some fun with this and look at everything and build "FRANKENFAIL".
 
the 1200 is really a cruddy case for watercooling.

also if you aren't getting that board, what are you getting?
 
I'll go back to my earlier recommendation of corsair obsidian 800d, haf x or 932, or the xigmatek elysium which can all house internal wcing. Does your friend have water cooling?

As for internal, one thing I would look into is a dual bay res that houses the pump. Seems like a nice simplification and requires less tubing and fittings and easier to mount.

As for simply doing the cpu, I would really consider doing the gpus since those are usually the loudest components under stress and produce the most heat. For doing 2 580s and a sandy, I would say a 360 and 240 would be ideal.

Fan wise, strongly consider some scythe gentle typhoon ap15s:

Consider by about everyone to be the best overall fan for rads. Pair these with some XSPC RX rads and you will be cooking...err cooling.

Quick edit. I see that the classified gtx 580s were just released. Pretty impressive standard overclock of 855 mhz. There are air and wc versions of both 1.5 and 3 gb versions. The hydro copper versions are about the same price as the non classified versions, and I would definitely consider looking at those. They are nice if this is your first wc build and you are a little worried about putting your own blocks on. However, I assume these are a non standard pcb which means you would have to get their wc version to have a proper block.
