Sheesh! Flying jets in BF3 is tougher than in BF2!

My first attempt, I didn't even get off the ground. Haha .. my Second attempt, I barely made it up, and controlling it was rather difficult. I was so lost. lol I suck at flying. :(

Locked servers passwords have been leaked. A few of us have gotten into the Caspian Border servers today and played in it.

Like half the team just stands of the airstrip waiting for jets to respawn. I got lucky to be able to get in twice. However, once the real game launches, I'll be steering clear of jets unless I decide to pick up a joystick .. but even with full sensitivity set to my mouse, It was way too difficult. (For me at least - I've always been terrible at flying)

Where were the passwords leaked?
 
well from what the dev, said over the twitter thingy, yeasterday, he has a suprise for the open beta coming up either today or when Ob goes live...
 
I think they purposefully made it harder so some people would get discouraged flying jets, specifically bad pilots and children. Sounds bad, but it would help keep crowd control down and be fair to the people that CAN fly a jet and make a difference to the team. But that is just my opinion--they may have made it more difficult to apply a more "realistic" value to it as well.
 
In the second video that Crushed posted one of the guys at the 5:30 mark was wielding a Stinger I think. I was wondering how those Anti-Air launchers work against aircraft if anyone knows.
 
Got into a caspian server for one round before being kicked for idle(?) Holy HUGE! Tried to grab a screenshot when I climbed the big communications tower but it didn't work. Also flew an attack chopper briefly before getting shot down. It was very difficult to control - nothing like BC2. Took forever to get in the server - had to spam the login since there is no queue on those servers apparently.

Just knowing your the "AT4" guy, I see what you will be playing most of, lol. The stinger and other relevant handheld AA weapons should be infrared(?) lock-on: so pretty much aim, hear the solid tone, and shoot. But to answer your question, I would assume one good hit should accomplish the job--in theory. It's pretty standard in most BF games to one-hit an aircraft or helicopter to destroy them. But if you're in a dense foil-age like, like in a woods in Caspian, then it will be harder to stay in sight of the aircraft unlike an open field.

Would you say you're a good pilot? You just might have to get used to the helicopter. Piloting apaches in BF2 like a pro and transitioning to BC2 choppers like a scrub was horrifying. But it was a process that was rewarding, and eventually mastered.
