LSU vs Alabama

That was one of the best college football games I have seen in a while, two undefeated teams number 1 & 2. Best teams in college football at this time and came to OT. LSU wins in the end.

I hate to butt in on this parade, but I'm a little confused here. Hope you can shed some light on the situation. I don't watch much College Football, but I did see this game.

Why is it that once the Alabama kicker missed a 50 yard field goal than instantly LSU took over right on Alabama's 20? I am so confused and I feel that is the only reason they won.

Other than that it was a very good game. Both teams did very well. It was clear who the better team was.

That game set football back 20 years. Not in a good way.

Also, to ESPN, the BCS, general sports media, and various others: take off the SEC colored glasses and ask yourself: "For the National Championship, would anyone really want to watch THAT, AGAIN?"

Don't get me wrong, I love defense just as much as the next guy, but come on. A little excitement wouldn't hurt. If I wanted watch games where the final score is 9-6, I watch the Pac-10 (where the game would be called "sloppie" instead of "a classic SEC slugfest".

Overtime rule: Each teams starts the possession on the opponents 25 yard line. So when the kicker missed, it was the beginning of a new possession for LSU, so they got the ball on the ALA 25.

Big loser is Alabama's special teams, specifically their field goal kickers. I forget how many missed field goals they missed until they finally got one in the 2nd quarter. 3 missed FGs?

To be honest Funky, I think it's still pretty even. If Alabama can get one reliable kicker, instead of the split kickers they got (no leg, but accurate; strong leg, no accuracy), they would have won the game and definitely be better than LSU. But as it was, the lousy special teams did doom Alabama to lose to LSU. They definitely need a player like Pudue's Carson Wiggs, who has hit a 67 yard field goal in a spring game (59 in actual game). Any kicker who's pretty accurate at 40 yards would of been the game changer honestly.
