So, its the time of year where you go looking for upgrades again, and I'm about ready for a new headset. My current Logitech AUDIO 600 series is getting outdated, uncomfortable on the ears at times, and I have broken both ear pieces apart at least once from carelessly sitting or standing upon them. Anyhow, I've been looking through some Madcatz, Turtle Beach, and Razer catalogs, and have emerged with the three victors. I have some bias, but before I reveal it I want you to tell me your opinions.

Razer - Carcharias
Turtle Beach - Ear Force x12
Madcatz - Tritton AX 180

Personally, I prefer the conventional analog jacks, but if need be I can switch to USB. I also value comfort, and as long as there isn't constant crackling/hissing and they work equally while listening to tunes or while shooting my M4A1. Thanks in advance for your input! Note: you can recommend another headset, but I'd much rather prefer you commenting on the ones at hand or a similar, possibly older model one you have. I don't even mind you picking your own personal favorite of the three. I'm just locked onto them now. ;)

Well, my brother has the Turtle Beach x11;s and they are FANTASTIC. I highly recommend Turtle Beaches.
Buttt...those carcharius's look nice too.....

I've always purchased the razer line and been happy, but they all look adequate

hmm, i also need a headset because i broke the mic and i broke another tempoary mic, i personally never used any of the brands u listed, but i like sennheiser and always use them for any audio related thing.

Well, personally I would never spend that much money on a headset. My $25 Meijer USB headset works wonders for me.

BUT, out of what you chose, I dig the Ear Force x12. I've dealt with Razer products in the past and disliked them with a passion. I also like the fact that this set can be used with an Xbox.

Just my few pennies.

Well, I don't own a 360, nor plan on getting one, so that feature isn't much use. However, I'm interested in hearing more about these Razer issues. I'm looking at getting the Mamba, but I don't want it if there are issues.

I've owned a razer mouse and keyboard, the mouse was USB and the keyboard was wireless. My mouse went out on me within a few months for reasons I do not know. My keyboard lasted a while but started losing sensitivity with certain keys, which was odd. Just never had good luck nor heard of anyone who has stuck with a Razer product for a long time.

PBJ, I use the Stennheiser PC-350 Head Set. They have excellent sound quality and are very comfortable. They use the analog jacks pink & green color coded imputs. Good Luck, Swamp :)

u use a sound card with it or mobo audio? plus u spelled sennheiser wrong, just pointing it out.

Razer - Carcharias -Had them didnt like them, they were uncomfortable the audio was also low and bad. They were easily breakable meaning they wernt sturdy and lasted me only a month.
Turtlebeaches - Good at the start but over time they can have some problems.

The X12's are very very small. Almost didnt fit on my head and couldnt fit around my ears. :/ and they are over ear headphones. I wouldnt reccomend unless if you have a really small head. :/

I'm gonna go against the razer, I tried them on in the store and hated them. They feel very cheaply made and easily breakable. Personally, I'd go to a store and put a few on your head and see what feels good.

Same with the X12's. I did try them on in the store and they were by far the worst headphones ive ever tryed on. :(

My headset is now pretty expensive but I got it on a black Friday sale for $50! It's the logitech g35

What store did you visit?

EDIT: Has anyone used the Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6As? They look pretty nice as well, plus they match my computer case.

Microcenter. I ended up going for these, but they seem a little above your budget. I love them.

Damn. I might just have to drive the hour to Microcenter and find the ones I like best. :P
