I'm trying to connect to the server, but every time I try I get disconnected from the server with an error message: couldn't CRC map/dod_strand.bsp,

I'm using a macbook pro
WIFI internet

Thanks

The problem has to do with the map/sound file for the map. The best thing to do is delete the .bsp, and the sound file for the map, and reconnect to the server. When you reconnect you will automatically start downloading them again.

If that doesn't work, you will need to change your directX level. You can do that by right clicking on the game you want to change in this case DOD, and go to properties, click in set launch options and box should appear. I wouldnt suggest typing anything else in here other than what i am about to tell you, seeing as to how it is for people who know what they are doing. In this box type in "-dxlevel 80" (without the quotes) then click ok and restart steam....if setting it to 80 doesnt help, you can try one of 3 other options, either going higher or lower with the setting of 70, 81, or 90.

(Thanks Lungbuster for the DirectX settings, archives are your friend)

^What he said.
But if you don't know where the map folder is, it is here:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOUR USERNAME\day of defeat source\dod\maps

I'm on a mac so I'm not sure how to find that sound file .bsp I know how to do it on a pc..I just can't find the dod folder also I tried the other step and nothing worked

I tried downloading it from that site. It was the dod_strand 2009

might of been the right one

If it doesn't work I will ask Spray to provide a direct download link for me.

Lets us know if you need that.

I had this problem as well, using a pc.

I however know where your game files are.

Go on the main hard drive then go to Library->Application Support->Steam and the rest is all the same. If the steam folder isnt there, check your other library.

^ I get some of my files from there.

Hope this helps. :)
