so, recently, I have been invited to a friends birthday party for paintball. I have little to no paintball experience. Only experience I had, was when I played air soft with friends. I was wondering if they're some beginner tips to learn, when you first start out. (I might play paintball more, after this)

Here is some info about me

-My Fastest mile time was 7:32

-I play basketball quite often

-I a little fast

-I participate in XCountry

I know some of the things I mention don't really matter with paintball, but any experienced players with some tips, will be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Camp run and have good clothes because paint balls hurt

That really depends on your pain threshold :P

If your only playing with mates that have about the same experience as you there isn't much to worry about but if you and your mates are going against some random's just hope they aren't pro paint ballers.. I was unlucky like that... lol
Only tip I got is Youtube, you can learn everything there haha

Speed is a factor in how good you can be, but it's not that important.

As a beginner your main focus will just be on being safe and learning about your marker/gear/rules.

First off, in my experience, never ever ever ever take your barrel cover off before the game starts and never ever take your goggles off when playing.

Second, make sure your gear is in proper shape to play. My guess is you will be renting or borrowing the marker and gear you will be using while playing. These guns most likely are not going to be in the best shape in the world. So make sure someone looks over it for you to make sure it is all in working order, since your not that experienced with the guns. Also make sure your gun is clean and no paint balls have broken inside the barrel or other areas, this can cause your gun to shoot off and even not shoot at all.

Third, the pain is not that bad! Sure getting shot with anything isn't going to feel very good, but getting shot with a paintball is very much bearable. Though I do recommend not getting shot point blank, those leave some nasty welts lol.

Lastly, have fun with it! You may be worried about it being your first time and a bit nervous about playing. Paintball is quite easy to get used to and can be great fun, that is of course if your team isn't getting slaughtered haha.

Hope this little information-are was helpful! Have a good time!

Yea.. getting bunkered can leave some nasty welts... I used to play speedball pretty competively, like xball style stuff.

only advice you need is to enjoy yourself. paintball is a lot of fun. but as already said, make sure you knoe.the rules of the particular field your playing at, they're all different.

Few tips for selecting your marker/gun

Tippmann's are awesome and usually supplied by renters.
Short barrels offer fast paint but low accuracy
Long barrels offer great accuracy but slow paint
Get a barrel in the middle, around 12-14in

Make sure your hopper is securely snapped shut... you dont want a deer turd pile of paint on the field, rofl.

Try not to shoot long distances! paint is not as accurate as you think and you'll wind up giving your position away.

When I play, I like to hug the edge of our playing area and flank the rest of the team. Now, I usually play woods-ball with the same group of people so they have been really predictable lately. If you play a few games, try to know the other players habits. You'll always come across a guy that charges in and sprays anything that moves, or the "slugs" who hide and rarely move. Dont be those guys lol! (unless you want the entire team to shoot you).

Play your own style and enjoy it. You will definitely get an adrenaline dump when you get hit. Remember NOT to get mad, even though every inch of your body wants too :D

Let me know how it goes! I love paintball!

ok! Thanks! I have tooken a chunk of my knee skin out, due to hitting a sharp metal rail 2 months ago (scar is still there). the cut is about 2-3 CM into my Shin. I guess that makes me not think paintballs hurt THAT bad?

Also, I would like to say I am renting, and im facing 10-11 year olds :P

Age isn't a bit factor in paintball, I've played some kids 7 - 8 years younger than me that are way better than me.

Hmm when you start the game stay with your team don't go lone wolfing it (tried once got surrounded ended badly) also don't be the person who shots his team mates because they scared him. Another thing would be get some anti fog lense googles because fog will mess up your vision and last but not least just have fun with it!!

Don't run off on your own thinking you can take down the team by yourself. Move with your teammates and keep each other covered. It's important to move around aswell, getting pinned behind a bunker is pretty lame. You'll find paintballing is a ton of fun, I hope you have a good time! :)

Don't run straight up right at the beginning like I did. Got behind some wooden cover, turned around and saw my entire team still at our side, With me past the half way line. -.-

Ok. Thanks Everyone. I went paintballin, at park about 30-45 minutes from where I only took one hit, which was my first round. It ended up bouncing off me, and since it was my first hit, I thought I was done, so I just rose my weapon (later to finding out that your still in if it doesn't splat). I only got to play 2 games, since I was late, and the next round was speedball. I was a wuss the whole time, and just camped behind a bunker, randomly shooting.

I think I will do better next time.
