Went and saw the Hunger Games tonight with some friends for my Birthday. Over all, it was a fantastic movie and showed a lot from the book and its style was very similar to how it was written. But, and this is a big but, I found 36 things they screwed up with the movie (Yes i counted. Sue me.) that were in the book. Some things were slightly different, some were just not in as much detail as the book, and others were completely removed from the movie!

I love these books. All 3 of them. And i do love this movie. And i also understand that directors have freedom to change it how they see fit to show their creativity. But when a book series like the Hunger Games, a masterpiece on its own that should never be tampered with, is tweaked to the point where key points for future books are missing? That draws a line to me.

TL;DR : The movie was great. If you read the books and are OCD about it like i am, you might not enjoy it as much as everyone else. Go see it.

Alright, thought i'd share that with you. Gotta say it was well worth missing realism....great now i'm speaking insanity.

this is exactly how i felt about harry potter. i spent more time looking for stuff in the movies that they left out, or that they changed around. i guess if you really think about it, the producers have to put in the stuff they think is crucial to the story, as opposed to every little detail. if that were the case, we would have 5 hour long movies as opposed to 2-3 hour movies.

gonna see it today. Sonic, you have to understand that it would be something like a 9 hr movie if everything were included and insight into a character's thought process is most difficult to portray in a movie. Almost never gonna be as good/complete as the book. I am surprised that they didnt allow for a continuation. And Happy birthday:)

Well, you see, no the movie was about 2 1/2 hours. It wouldn't be much more longer if they added the parts i counted wrong. 30 seconds for the dogs' detail, 1-1.5 minutes for storyline of the mayor and his daughter (and her mom)....the list would take a while. if i could remember all the things i saw wrong, i'd make a huge list.

Thanks for the Birthday wishes, but save em till wednesday. thats my real birthday.

Also, a bonus, The guy in Zombieland (The twinkie guy) plays Hamich in this movie.

yeah the biggest thing was definitely the dog's detail in my opinion. they are what the the ending so eerie.
*spoiler* they are made from the DNA of the dead players and reflect their physical characteristics... and they are sentient... and can switch between bipedal and quadrupedal... * end spoiler*
at least they didnt take out anything major.
i was actually very pleased with how they portrayed it. it greatly exceeded my expectations.

This guy, knows his stuff. And yes i agree. they need to go into detail about the eyes and the collars of how they reflect the different districts. also, they didn't describe the districts and what role they play in the capitol's enslavement. They took a really good book, and gave it a haircut. i like it, but its a little too danger close

Ive become jaded with these Hollywood Blockbusters, specially when the marketing machine is filling every media out there.

Happy Berfday
