...this past weekend, and this is what I spotted:

(Note) The B-29 (same type of plane that dropped the atomic bombs) pictured below is the last one in the world that is flying, so they say. I know the plane had a lot of engine problems during the war, so that might contribute to why only one is flying.

I would put up a picture of myself there, but I got absolutely roasted due to my own ignorance of not putting sunscreen on, fail.:frown:

very nice! air shows are the my personal favorite because i have a fascination for planes and stuff.

random trivia question: what is the name of the B-29 Bomber that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima? if you tell me the name of the pilot (without looking it up) of the B-29 bomber, i will be even more impressed!

Nice I loved it when i went to those. The last time I want to anything was a Tank show with world war 2 tanks and some modern stuff. Saw the inside of a Sherman :D

Just saw your question, Enola Gay.

I'm proud to be able to say I've flown in the cockpit of a DC-3.

Wow all I did this weekend was work and go to the Jazz festival and dance. I was happy about that until I saw this, now I feel like a "sissy-la-la".

Ohh yea and Timr is Strat didn't see that one coming... well one less Canadian to abandon the Allied forces at a critical moment in the war.

I had to do a research paper in middle school and it was the only thing I kinda had fun doing in school, any way Tibbets was the pilot:)

That's awesome!

They do DC-3 restoration at the very same airport that this air show was held. I also do believe that the DC-3 that appeared in Quantum of Solace was restored here as well. I think I remember seeing something in the local paper during the release of the film.

Also, the Blue Angels put on an excellent show like always.

One thing that I have not seen personally at an air show yet is a B-52. The fact that it is still in service and plans to be till at least 2045 is just a testament to how great a weapons platform it really is. A truly amazing aircraft.

I mean that's insane and scary, for the enemy :)

Dangit, BeeF. I was all excited that I knew the answer and you beat me to it. Col Tibbets.

Further trivia without looking it up: what was the name of the B-29 that dropped the bomb on Nagasaki?

Bockscar...Anything WWII, or military for that matter, has been ingrained in my memory due to growing up with the military channel on 24/7. Thanks Dad!

+10 imaginary internet points. A surprising amount of people know the name phonetically, but don't know that it is spelled Bockscar.
