R.I.P BlackMesa

Your story bothers me for the fact is we never see you in ventrilo you very rarely played on blackmesa you continue to wine and complain about everything, you have never recruited anyone into eGO but you have the nerve to post here and say we made bad decisions. As for the rank I enjoy playing it is not about the rank to me. I spend a mininum of 3 hrs a day doing forum work. Yes you played alot on 2fort but the changes there recently Valve corp forced us to do so.

As for the rest of them I see there concern especially the ones that dedicted to eGO and Mesa itself.

Unfortunately, there have been multiple bad decisions on the part of the leadership. First off was the server location change. Second was the changing of 2fort from Fast Respawn to standard respawn. Third was Black Mesa. The body, heart, and soul were removed systematically.

Additionally, I realize that this is a thread initially about Black Mesa, but the discussion has evolved into one about the division as a whole, which includes 2fort. I've spent 2000+ hours on that server, and I dare you to say I haven't been dedicated to keeping it going. As a matter of fact, every night when I got on, it was full. If you look at our statistics (do it soon before they reset) you'll see that I am ranked 7th for amount of time connected to our servers. The majority of our leadership aren't even in the top 50. The people who are up there with me are the ones who are the most effected by these changes, and they are the regulars. These are the people who should be deciding the direction of the community, not the ones who aren't a part of it.

I have to agree with Wilson, razor and Adam, some of you I never even saw play on Mesa, and the fact that you complain so much about it being removed makes me angry. I played a lot on mesa, not as much as some of the other members here, but I did go and try to fill it when It was needed. I think I have some reason to be angry mesa is gone because I played on it a lot. Some of the other people I see posting on this thread never played on mesa once since I joined 3-4 monthes ago, and it just angers me to see them complaining about something they never helped with. If so many of you missed mesa like I do, then where were you all while it lay almost empty most of the day? I will be the first to say I wish we had mesa still, and I dont like the server changing to dustbowl, but honestly, I still see why it had to be done.

Hahaha, I love people who have no respect. "This guy" happened to be a former Advisor for eGO in the past, and knows a hell of a lot more than any of you do about filling servers. When he was here, TF2 ran with 12 servers that were always full. There was no generalizing or assuming in his post whatsoever, he was merely stating facts which I will back 100%.

So, what happened to the TF2 division to make it go from 12 fully active servers down to 4 (not including the event server)?

I can only assume there weren't as many divisions back then and once eGO started to grow resources needed to be divided?

As someone who was a long time mesa regular and did try and fill the server I'm not mad about it going. I'm mad it was taken away with no warning, and put on to a map that no one wanted. Everyone in this thread needs to STOP complaining that mesa is gone. ITS GONE. All you're doing is pissing off leadership. The real issue here is that it was put on dustbowl, NOT that it had to go.

Stop complaining that it's gone, and start being productive. Let leadership know that you're fine that mesa's gone but you would at least like a say in where the server goes. Whining and complaining get's us no where. It only makes you look like a bunch of babus. ESPECIALLY when half of you stopped playing on mesa a while ago, for whatever reasons.

To leadership. I was a mesa fan for years, and I was a mesa fan till the end. I gave a bills to try and fix it and I'm ok its gone, just please take it off dustbowl and put it somewhere that I can enjoy fragging with my fellow members.

Thanks

I gracefully admit that, having generally quit gaming more than a year ago, I have no right to comment on the state or decisions related to servers. However, I can, and will, address what I've seen in this thread, and that has been a very sad display.

Your post bothers me for the fact that you are a Division Leader.

It may very well be that I'm the only one that finds this disturbing but, your post shows the most short sighted notion of what a community is, I've ever seen from someone in leadership.
A community is not about the tags you use, it's about the sentiment you share. The fun you have that makes you want to come back; Enjoying the play with friends, and even complete strangers; The feeling of a perfectly timed ?ber, the joy of when that last crit pipe killing everyone, and even the cries of desperation after being steamrolled, and that bitter taste after eating a crocket. None of that has anything to do with tags or number of recruits.
You play with the people. In the end, tags are meaningless.

I find it appalling that a Division Leader would post something with such a tone towards a member who, in that regard, had been nothing but extraordinary towards the community.

[...]
I would gladly agree with all of your appeals to this change if you were all true supporters of the server and cared about our division.

Hahaha, I love people who have no respect. "This guy" happened to be a former Advisor for eGO in the past, and knows a hell of a lot more than any of you do about filling servers.
[...]

To you, the same note as to Razor1. This is appalling. This might be most immature display from leadership I've seen. At the very least, let me point out the fact that you cannot claim respect when the tone of your own posts is insulting.

Here, I'll give you a goal for getting the Blackmesa Server back.
[...]
Once again, I'm not saying if you meet those 3 goals that you definitely will get Mesa back, I'm saying that I will personally try to get another Mesa server if you do.
[...]
Feel free to PM me with any questions, comments, or concerns!

I applaud you for posting the closest thing to a propper response. But I have to point out a couple things.
Why post goals to get mesa back and not to keep mesa? I don't claim that mesa would have been saved if you posted something like this weeks ago, but at the very least, you could honestly say that you tryed all you could.
Coupled with the message from leadership saying mesa was safe if the other servers were OK, which tured out to be false, even if your intentions are the best possible, here, now, this just seems like a vage promisse.

Even if members posts' were nothing but flaming, feedback from leadership should always be responsible.

I don't know what the magical solution for all of TF2 is, but I know that it must start with leadership being more open and transparent. I'm not saying you should paste all of your private forums discussions here, but topics like server changes, that affect (dramaticly) the whole community, should be shared as rapidly and as clearly as possible.

[TL;DR:] A core part of the problem is a lack of propper feedback, dropbox is good but only really works one way. There ought to be more threads asking for communty input about things being discussed by leadership.

This and more.

It is painful for me to watch the sheer lack of professionalism on the part of TF2 leadership. Here are a few examples:

1) Banning a four year member with little to no explanation of why it happened or was necessary, then going on a 30 minute rant about "Kicking ass" if need be.

2) The responses in this thread

3) The fact that they are never in the TF2 servers unless it is an event (rarely) or seeding

4) The constant blaming of bad servers, poor filling, lack of enthusiasm, lack of regulars on those servers, and countless other things on the members who do nothing but work to better the division with little to no help from leadership.

5) Not knowing of recruiting drives going on which were on the top of the division discussion for a week, with constant posts going in and out for that time.

6) Changing the server lineup or moving them for no reason with a sheer lack of understanding how much it ruins the following on that server.

I could go on, but the simple fact is that we never have any say in what goes on unless we DEMAND it, and it should not be that way. I think anerun said it correctly, don't run this place like a dictatorship. This is a GAMING organization, GAMES are supposed to be FUN, GAMES are supposed to be there to help you relax, GAMES are there to spend time with friends blowing people up with the caber on 2fort or backstabbing everyone on Foundry while laughing in vent. In the past 6 months, I NEVER, NOT ONCE, saw a leadership member actually in the regular vent rooms, playing tf2 for real and laughing like a real member. You all are not really leaders to me, you guys are just the people who sit in the leadership room. I find more leadership from people like Frisky or anybody else who is in server every day, WHO CARES about this division. I do not get that feel from you all in "Leadership". I do not feel a deep caring about this division at all.

I switched to strat because I want to keep my compass, and thats about it. I WANT to care about TF2 divison again, but right now I cannot. If you all are going to say you are leadership, act like you give a damn about the division.
