New Autobalance/scramble Plugin

Today we have implemented a new autobalance and autoscramble plugin on our servers.

We will be running this experimentally and appreciate feedback on how it performs.

The new plugin will attempt to balance teams more effectively than with simple random scrambles. It also adds new features to help players keep playing with their friends if possible!

  • Scramble/autobalance is based off of points per minute. This means that whoever is earning points the fastest (who is theoretically doing the best on the team) is most likely to be scrambled or balanced to the losing team to attempt to create an even match again.
  • The server will not autobalance or scramble engineers with setup buildings or medics with uber. This is to stop situations where an engineer defending the point is team swapped and all of his buildings allowing the team to successfully defend are removed.
  • Players who have recently completed objectives (such as capturing points, touching the intel, defending points) are very low on the priority list and are less likely to be team swapped.
  • The plugin will allow you to choose buddies or a team that you prefer. It will do its best to make the teams fair while keeping you on your preferred team or with your buddy.
  • Autoscramble will now activate more frequently and reliably in unbalanced situations. It has several new triggers that will activate it including a team winning in only a couple minutes, team score imbalances, and teams winning multiple rounds in a row.
  • Scramble cannot take place more than once every other round, so it will not scramble two rounds in a row.
  • Votescramble is now enabled on the servers for if the players feel that the plugin is not doing its job properly, votescramble requires 60% of the server to vote in favor.
  • The plugin will restrict players from switching to spectator once a scramble or autobalance has been initiated to stop people from re-stacking teams. The plugin will also 'embarrass' anyone who does immediately switch teams after a scramble for attempting to re-stack the teams.

Please leave your questions comments and concerns in this thread, many parts of this plugin are configurable or removable and we are currently trying it out to see what works best for us!

Go check it out!

Sounds like Cold or Virus and I maybe could still roll.

*sigh*

Nice!!!
Suggestion, fast build in Setup time.

Just for clarity...

If I am doing well by capping/defending points often on Foundry or Black Mesa and getting a moderate number of kills in these engagements, am I more likely or less likely to be scrambled? The points-per-minute calculation suggests a greater likelihood of autobalance and recency of objectives suggests a lower likelihood.

The way it should be working is it will be based off of 'Points per Minute', but if you have captured a point, defended a point, or touched the intelligence in the last 60 seconds then you are lowest priority for being swapped.

My favorite part is the team preference feature.

Thanks for implementing this into our servers!

I like the plug-in, but i found one veryy annoying issue.

If you get Auto-balanced, it counts as a death D:
I was 22-0 in Granary yesterday, got auto-ballanced, and was 22-1 </3

Is this fixable so it doesnt cause a death?

SAUSAGE!!!!

For those who may not know this already:

  • !preference BLU/RED - Choose the team you prefer so there is a higher chance that you end up on your preferred team if a scramble occurs.
  • !addbuddy - Selects a buddy you want to team up with so there is a higher chance you two stay on the same team regardless of team balance/scramble.

You dont scramble sausages.... you scramble eggs.. >.<

That's so true. :O

If I use !preference RED once, will it always know my preference, or will I need to use this command each time I join the server? (Not that I mind, I would just like to know how this works.)

Teams getting stacked has always been a problem, and I am glad that this change is being made. Things like this are why I love eGO so much.

This plug-in sounds exactly like how autobalance should have always worked. Also, shouldn't the commands be listed in the first post?

what he said, why post about this if you're not gonna tell anyone how to use it?

I'm also assuming that spidEY posted only a few of the commands.

I seem to be neglecting TF2 a lot more now. What does the !sausage command do?

You'll have to use the command each time you join the server.
